The Star-Telegram had an article today about the possible reopening of Heritage Park.

...which leads to my question.
Does anyone know the history of La Corte Barrio? I've always found it kind of odd and mysterious...

Thanks

It's interesting that you should post this at this time. In a photo in Quentin McGown's book, Historic Photos of Fort Worth, on page 90 shows the La Corte Barrio is the background. I've taken many walks through the ruins of that neighborhood and have always found it to be an interesting trip back in time.

If you click on the google maps link... you'll see it. Look for the label that says "Heritage Park Plaza".
Its in the general area.

It's discussed in Dr. Cuellar's book about Fort Worth Hispanic history --

There is a syndicated columnist who grew up in La Corte. Patrisia Gonzales?

My grandmother lived there for a while. Man she has some stories to tell when she is not in a bad mood.
