2/17/16. Flew on the C-47 yesterday.

Excellent aerial shot!  Now, not everybody gets to ride on a C-47 military transport.  If you have not already done so, can you tell us how you got aboard one and for what purpose (if I may ask).

I'm guessing he went on the one that flies from Meacham Airport.  There are numerous opportunities to take a ride on it.  My wife and I have done their Christmas Light Flight a few times.

Flew with Greatest Generation aircraft who are based at Meacham. They had a special deal with FW Camera yesterday as part of Fotofest.  http://www.gga1.org/

I'll post more pics later.

Edit- Nice timing!

The NBC 5 Fort Worth skycam was zoomed out enough to see River Tower the other day.

River Tower is really starting to make a big impact on the skyline from the west.

I was driving eastbound on I-30 from West Fort Worth today and I thought the same thing.  I have also known the height of the building for quite some time, so I should have expected the "look" of the skyline.

I stepped outside at work on Tuesday afternoon and spotted the C-47 making a sweeping turn north of I-30.  I'm assuming that's the one that allowed you to get that shot.  Very nice.  They run Groupons from time to time for their flights, although the one right now doesn't get you any better of a deal than you get if you book directly through their website.

I was thinking to myself the other day as I drove by that Pier 1/Chesapeake doesn't look so lonely now because of how much this tower stands out.

And from the north. I went over the new part of the 28th Street Bridge at the Stockyards and noticed a cluster of buildings where there previously only appeared to be one. Fort Worth's version of "Uptown"?

I always thought of either West 7th or, well, Panther Island (originally "Trinity Uptown") to be our Uptown.

But I'd DEFINITELY want the development to head towards something like that for the Upper Westside.

Pouring the 23rd floor yesterday. Here you can get a decent look at how it compares to Pier 1.

The building will get a little taller with the elevator overrun penthouse and mechanical roof screen on the roof.  It is definitely tall, but still shorter than Pier 1.

Are you sure it's the 23rd floor. On my walk by the building this morning I counted the floors and it seemed to me as they are starting on the 22nd floor. I could be wrong of course, but I started counting the floors starting on the western (lower) side of the building.

The floor numbering system on the building is not conventional.  I counted floors and checked it against the drawings that I have, and it appears they are pouring the last occupied floor of the building.  There will be another partial floor above this one that will house the elevator overrun and some mechanical equipment.  There will also be a roof screen to hide the rooftop mechanical unit.

Yeh, its got 22 floors, the roof is the "23rd" floor. Oops. It's basically topped out now though, just the screening on the roof is left in terms of vertical construction.

Briefly noted observation of the "topping out," while bicycling past the building yesterday:  The Star and Stripes waving in the wind.

I was at a meeting at Historic Fort Worth at lunch, and I noticed there is a new "Trinity Terrace" sign at the top of the building on the south side.  The old "Trinity Terrace" sign on the east side of the first building has been removed.

I was out on the West 7th Street Bridge on Saturday evening and I noticed that the signage on the west side of the original building has been replaced with the new font.  It was also illuminated.  I'm assuming that this only leaves the sign on the north side of the River Tower left to be installed and connected.

The East facing side is just about done. Starting to get a good look at the final result, looks nice.

I was in Trinity Park with my camera this afternoon, and I caught a couple of shots from the west.  I also took a skyline photo from the Amon Carter.

Several months have passed since the vertical construction was completed, but the building remains unfinished, particularly the ground floor.  Does it take this long a time to install the fixtures?  Just curious, as I see the project whenever I take to the Trinity Trails on my bicycle by way of 10th Street.

Interior finish-out of residential usually takes longer than office space.  This is due to the fact there are usually more walls than in office buildings, and the overall area of the interior walls is greater.  A lot of office space is open office, and therefore, it is very easy to lay carpet and install ceilings.  Within each unit are at least one bathroom, this puts more fixtures in the building as a whole, therefore taking longer.

Channel 5 news in their skyline shot from the Stayton showed the super bright aircraft warning lights on the building this morning.

I agree Austin. The lights on has really helped stretch the skyline and adds to Pier 1; especially when driving east towards downtown.
