Is it on hold?

Rumor has it that the details such as floor plans will be available early next year.

Updates? Thanks! TH

Last I heard, it was mothballed until the residential market improves.

Edit: It's been said on this forum before, and I agree, that it would be entirely ironic (and economical) for Radio Shack to occupy this building after their lease is up with TCC at the HQ.

Yes. Delayed to allow the market to improve while the company works on the retail side of the project.

I have zero inside information on this one, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the south building end up being commercial lease space when it is all said and done. With all the higher end living options downtown and commercial vacancies being as tight as they typically are in DTFW, it seems like a logical move. Then again, the market is tight enough to justify new construction here and there and that has failed to spur commercial redevelopment of the south building; so maybe they are sticking to their guns on this one.

Actually, that would surprise me as I have heard Porter strongly say that it should be residential and I vaguely recall that the economic development agreement with the City specifies residential.

I see quite a bit of work being done on this project daily, but I am always confused by looking at it what is new and what is old.

To further her confuse me, City One is tower Two and Tower One is City Two? Cripes, I'm out. Took a few pics this Sunday evening. In the dark, as always.

On the East side. (Where I thought I remembered Second street would go West through this complex.)

All I have is hearsay from a RadioShack employee in the corporate office, but the theory I heard is that RadioShack is more likely to move into existing and available space in their distribution buildings on the north side of town (near Meacham) than to stay in downtown when their TCC lease is up.

As far as I know, it still is. I just think they haven't gotten to it yet.

Not to start a silly rumor, again, but I did see Julian Day looking through the windows of the South Tower (Whatever that is) about 3 months ago. Not that he wouldn't be curious about the place. As far as I know, he has never been in there.
I, on the other hand, applied for a Job at Radio Shack in the North Tower when I was a new graduate. Was sure I was going to get the job. They never even called me back. *&%$*@! There is no telling how successful they could have been!

Was Day on the inside looking out or was he walking by on the street looking in?

He was on the street looking in. Hands cupped to block the sun. Not unlike a boy looking at a radio controlled airplane in the window of a Hobby Store.

I'm almost positive this is no longer planned.

The restoration of 2nd Street is shown on all the recent marketing materials for the "Shops at City Place," such as the retail leasing site plan and such. If it's no longer planned, it must have been a very recent decision.

And it would be extremely lame to leave the superblock as-is.

The restoration of 2nd is another component upon which the economic development agreement was to be contingent. I believe it is still planned.

One City Place condos scrapped:

Restoration of 2nd is contingent upon getting the other tower developed, apparently, so that's another delay towards getting 2nd reopened.

I'm not sure of anything at this point. It the tower goes office, then I would think 2nd street is at risk for not happening at all. That's just a guess though.

I have heard that the current owner's priorty is parking and getting that TIF revenue for allowing parking on nights and weekends. Sounds to me like they are willing to sit on it for a while and earn what they can and wait it out.

I heard Porter say he was undecided, and the market would make the decision---when the time is right, and what to build. I think his economic development agreement with the city was based on dollars invested, not what type of construction, but I am not 100% positive about that.
