Hello all... I have been on the forum awhile but new to posting, except for the song game. Its great.

I am needing some help on a photo mystery, The photo below is a picture of my great grandmother, I would like
help identifying the buildings behind her. I believe that it was taken some time around 1919, because of the movie poster
behind her. I think the buildings are the old city hall, and the Keystone Hotel which is listed in a old city directory as being
on 10th street. But I am not 100% certain.

I have seen many pictures of the city hall, but cannot find one that shows a Keystone Hotel across the street.

My main interest is getting a picture of the hotel that may show where she is standing. Is it a house? a church?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I would suggest that you contact the archive department at UTA and ask them if they have any photos of the Keystone and/or old city hall. They bring them up on microfiche and you are not obligated to buy them unless you want to...they maintain all of the old photos that were from the Star Telegram. I've used them a number of times to research old buildings and it's a very handy resource.

UTA is always my first choice when doing this kind of research.

I thought it was the old city hall, because in a city directory, the listing for Keystone Hotel states that it is on 10th between the city hall and the post office. But I could be wrong.

Hi Pam,

Is it possible that the building over her right shoulder is the old Central Fire Station? It was of a cut stone like the building pictured.

No, I am pretty sure it is city hall, I found a panoramic shot and zoomed in and what looks like the building is between city hall and the post office. Just wish I knew what was next door to it, to maybe figure out where she is standing inside the fence...
