I went to J.P. Elder in the 80s and they had this old little store across the street that everybody went to after school, it was a hot spot. This old couple owned and operated it but it shut down over 15 years ago and has been closed ever since. The old man was on oxygen in the latter days so my guess is that he died and they shut it down. But I've always wondered about it and it's history. The sign looks pretty old and it says store #2. Where was store #1?

We would buy these fortune gums for a penny each, so we'd buy a dollar's worth everyday. They were wrapped in a bundle with a rubberband. They were so damn hard and only lasted 5 minutes, and they helped my teeth come out sooner. But they also had these old arcades, Star Wars and Tron.
