The three photographer Swartz Brothers, David, John, and Charles, arrived in FW in the 1880 from Virginia. The (in)famous Sundance gang photo was taken by John Swartz at the studio located at 705 1/2 Main located above the John P. Sheehan Saloon on the edge of Hell's Half Acre. That helps to explain why fugitives from the law felt comfortable enough to have a group photo taken. (information taken from published sources) The Portal to Texas History at UNT has online examples of the Swartz brother's work including an early "souvenir" photo album.

705 1/2 Main would put it on the site of 777 Main now, near Grace's entrance.
