Here's an interesting look at a unique part of Fort Worth's and Texas's history, as told in a Channel 5 report.  I didn't know Mosier Valley Park was the first site where freed slaves settled in Texas.

It's an under appreciated fact about our history that gets lost.

There's very few historical elements of the community left.  The school site has a historical marker, but the building was moved to Bedford years ago and is now a hair salon.  The Baptist church is on the original property, but was rebuilt some time back.  I've never heard that there are any original houses remaining.  The area was overrun with industrial businesses and gravel pits.  The expansion of Trinity Blvd. about 15 years ago cut right through part of the community.
