I managed to put about 8 miles on my shoes last weekend wandering around town with the camera. Among the things I was looking for were the old neon signs (and some not so old), so here are a few of the shots I took:

And the newcomer (delicious by the way!):

Thanks - I like that one as well - probably from watching "American Pickers" too much! I plan to go out and take night pictures of them as well, although I noticed that some, including Joe Daiches, are missing the tubes, so I guess I'll skip those...

Agree. Great job on the signs. Jewels.

I really like the new Cupcakery neon. It is just terrific for that spot on my opinion. You just have to love neon. I wish the city required it! To me, it is what makes Downtown, Downtown.

To bad the neon is gone form Daiches Building. Not that it would be lit or anything at this point.

I really like The Aardvark's new sign. I noticed it a few weeks ago when I was going down Berry at night. Since the road is under construction there, I had been avoiding the street.

When I was a younger I thought the Jazz Lounge was fake, that someone just put a sign there to make Fort Worth look more cultured. I don't have a clue why I thought that! Every time I walk by there I am tempted to take a picture, it's very cool. Never been to it though.

I never realized how many neon signs there are around here. It seems Sundance is changing a lot of the parking signs into neon ones, that or I've just never noticed them before.

I've taken many shots of Razzoo's sign over the years. Here's one that hasn't been put up on this thread and it is an old one. I can remember it being there when I was a kid. This is a daytime shot.

Love the Vandervoorts sign - I've seen it on south Main, but never made it there on foot to take a picture. We're moving back to the 'country' this weekend, so my (easy) photo ops around Downtown will sadly be a thing of the past.

Thanks John, I appreciate that. Hopefully we'll still make the occasional journey downtown (we'll only be 20 miles away), but I know we didn't visit as often as I would have liked before we actually made the move to the T&P.

Good news to John S if you see this - I'll have a relatively sound-proof room, and have recently acquired a half-stack with four 12" x 100W Clarion speakers, so I'll be ready to crank it up! I'll also be replacing the drums I sold when we moved downtown...

Here's a little neon from Division Street in Arlington. Not all of it particularly interesting (especially when I shoot them), but it makes me think of what Division might have been like when it was part of the Bankhead. (Is that correct, Pete?)

Again, this is where preservationists need to get things in writing.  I think most people thought the developer would keep the sign in place on the site.  Now, since it has been removed, there is no guarantee that it will be erected in another location.

Here's one that won't be around much longer because they are demolishing the building.  However, right now, the sign is still intact.  It's the old Ewell Fuel Company at the northwest corner of West Berry and Cleburne Road.
