I'm sorry that it took so long to get it back up. There were several factors involved. My host required me to replace the infected files with clean ones. Naturally, that would be expected, but they also required me to remove the entire website and then upload a fresh copy. After that, I was supposed to let them know that I had complied with their request and then they would do another virus scan of all files. If there were any more infected files, then I had replace them. I also had two meetings and a dental appointment last week, so I knew that I wasn't going to have 4-5 hours every day after work to comply with their requests. My original calculations was that it was going to take me a week to replace the site and fix the forum. Since it went down Sunday night, and came back up this morning, my guess was pretty close. I posted all of that information on the Fortwortharchitecture.com Facebook page. Now, my next task tonight is to upgrade the forum.
Now here is your opportunity to post about all of the things that happened last week.

Thanks for your hard work, John. I gave up on trying to keep a blog going, I can only imagine how much time this takes on your part, even thing things are operating normally. When something like this happens it must take a herculean effort to get it going again.

Doohickie, you're welcome and it does take a lot of effort to get it going again. First of all, the hacks come as a surprise, then they are usually at my busiest week of the month. I can't take off from my paying job to fix it, so I have to do it after hours. Then, if I have meetings or my organization commitments, I have to decide which ones I can skip and which ones I have to attend. All other activities, I have to drop until I get it back up and running. I will admit that I took a few hours off on Saturday to ride bicycles. That is what I have to do to get it back online. Updating and taking new photographs are all done at other times.

Good job getting things back up and running. I'm not sure what someone hopes to accomplish by hacking a local interest message board.

After reading your summary of the site restoration, I appreciate even more what you do, John. I'm still new to this forum, and I don't contribute much to the dialog, but I do enjoy reading it every day. Thanks for making it happen.

I want to thank everyone again for their kind comments. I did one more thing tonight, I upgraded the forum to Version 3.4.6 and I did a complete install over what I replaced over the weekend. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea for all of you to change your passwords. I did for my admin and user log in.

This site was massively missed. Thanks John for providing us with the premier "go to" site for Everything Fort Worth; and so does much gratitude go to your associates; and finally, to all of my posting colleagues, thank you too.
Keep Fort Worth folksy

Well, while it was down I thought at least you were getting a break from the hundreds of access requests from spambots. Sounds like the outage was consuming more of your time than even that. Glad it's back up. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Donnie, thanks for the offer, but I slowly took care of everything. One of the issues that slowed me down is that I had a couple of evening meetings and an afternoon dentist appointment that kept me away from the computer. I had a little less personal time to bring it back up. I also figured that it was best to comply with everything my host requested and I wasn't going to do that with haste. Anyway, after I did all of that, I have updated a few of the pages on the main site. I'm going to try to do a little updating and adding every day, if I can.
