Is there an area west of GD on white settlement road about 4-5 miles west of 820 still out there?
I remember it as being very secure and strange. First saw it in 1964...Last in or about 85.
Having moved to the Lubbock area 2 years ago...
Is there any interest for items that members would want photo or otherwise. I have enjoiyed looking at the old photos chronicled.
Any photos of the Parkair drive-in or Carlsons drive in on University?

Also does anyone remember the combination drine-in theater and playland type park that set where Camp Bowie splits at the top of the hill near the original site of the first Neiman Marcus store in FW?

I believe the site/compound you are referring to was the old ammunition/ordnance storage area for Carswell AFB before it closed. As I recall it also had a large black and white optical "target" inside the perimeter fence, which was probably used for airborne camera alignment and siting. With the closing of Carswell back in the early '90's, I believe this area was deactivated as well. For further (and perhaps more detailed) information on this facility, you might try visiting Scott Murdock's Website, the URL for which I've provided below. He's quite a military-base historian, and will probably have the entire story on this "area 51".

Good luck!
