I voted no. In my opinion the skyline that is distinctive and impressive speaks for itself.

Hers's another rendering. The building is 3 floors taller in this one than the last, and has some extra height on the top floor. It is 25 floors in this render. Also shown is a small night time view with the glass section at the top being illuminated.
Whats wrong with this picture? Hint - It time to revisit DDRB signage policy.
I vote Yes.
Signage should be allowed atop buildings in Downtown as long as doing so does not pose a public safety or hazardous situation. Signage should be carefully reviewed or even denied in a historic district or on a historic building.
The above is a perfect illustration of what companies want and if disallowed may deter them from proceeding with their project or keep the project at 9-story or less. 9-story skyline, Wow!

I voted YES.
I also feel that if they are allowed some basic caveats should put in place to limit their use; public safety and potential hazards are of course at the top of such a list. I would suggest that limiting the sign to a logo and a company or building name; no "Building" or Center" etc. Also, no physically moving parts or animations should be allowed. I am sure there are existing downtown sign ordinances that could be mined for ideas, but simplicity should be encouraged and appropriateness carefully defined.

The term "skyline" actually defines something that lines the sky, both day and night.
Skylines that are dark at night are distinctive; being different from almost all other skylines in highly developed countries a would not line the night sky. There is nothing impressive about a skyline of 9-story buildings which would not begin to line a blue day sky.

As long as it's tastefully done and isn't crowded with a million logos in one spot, what's the problem with having them on buildings?
(Obviously, I voted yes)

I voted "no" because the top signage could be overdone and look gaudy. But I wouldn't object to the application of inconspicuous signage such as the one on the planned Residence Inn at Marriott (Post#3 above).

I believe that the signage rule can not be left to public sensitivity. There can be a number of legitimate reasons to deny them; personal dislike becomes a civil issue.

Signage rule counts...no public sensitivity. I will grant you that, I guess. But I thought this was a simple poll about what I, a common layperson, thinks about having signs on the tops of tall buildings?

Las Colinas will not allow signage on tops of buildings which is kinda refreshing compared to how Dallas looks at night... IMO their Omni hotel and Reunion Tower ruin the skyline! It looks like Vegas but without the fun. Also, has anyone else ever thought that Reunion Tower looks like a microphone from the old Donnie and Marie show?

Honestly, I couldn't imagine Dallas without them...

Yeah, but isn't BOA-Dallas a big green sign?

Remember is was Fort Worth who started and brought the "Bling". When we outlined all of out tallest buildings in yellow lights for almost 50 years. And our Tandy Center started what the Dallas Omni is doing now. Granted it was not high tech. But big red candle sticks with flickering flame during Christmas time. Other times of the year is would spell out Stock Show, United Way, and of course Tandy Center. If anything. If one day Fort Worth has a building what the Dallas Omni is doing now. Fort Worth would be redoing a tradition started by the Tandy Center. Not copying Dallas Omni.

If you think that the Dallas skyline looks like Vegas, I'm not sure you're real familiar with Vegas.
I voted "yes", but I think that lighting should be kept simple. I don't want to see Vegas or Times Square style signage on rooftops.

..... I don't want to see Vegas or Times Square style signage on rooftops.
Just like the incredibly unfounded fear from the councilman of "a canyon of hotels" to oppose the Museum Place Hotel in the Cultural District, the concern over Vegas or Times Square style signs in Fort Worth is something that you will not be seeing and amounts to being a sure bet.

Looks like Pier One has taken the mantel of the old Tandy Center. Can't really make it out . But letters and words are being scrolled on the Pier One crown !

It says "Thank U Bruce". Evidently, Bruce is a retiring maintennce manager or something.
How long has scrolling signage been going on at Pier One ?
