Scott Zelenak is a surveyor for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and is often involved with staking out and checking construction work on the recovery efforts involved with the World Trade Center Site. I find Mr. Zelenak's photos very interesting and will link them here to share with those of you who are interested in watching these new buildings go up.

As a tease, here is a picture of "The Cross" being relocated:

The T-1 Cricket Crane works on the same principle as an extension ladder.

The base of the crane is joined to the building by a dual rail system. One rail holds the crane, the other is fixed to the building. As the building grows, the crane is jacked up the rails. Gravity then acts to swing out lugs which rest on special mounting plates on the building rail. Gravity then holds it in place.

Once above adjoining buildings, the crane will be able to deliver to two sides of the building. Not a lot of guys willing to walk under it though...

Scott tells me that T-1 is the shorthand designation of what is formerly known as the Freedom Tower and shown on Wikipedia as being One World Trade Center. I assumed it was the model number for the crane.
