The City of Dallas is spending $51 million dollars on this streetcar line that will connect downtown and North Oak Cliff.

There will be no service past 7pm on weeknights or at all on the weekends.  Yikes.

Ha.  I should probably have double-checked that.

Here's an article and some photos about the transit oriented development occuring just to our east along the new streetcar line connecting Oak Cliff and Downtown Dallas.

That area plainly does not need modern transit because there is already dense development taking place.

Opening April 13th. I'm still quite serious about staging a demonstration at the grand opening with signs thanking Moncrief and the rest of the sheep council for saving us from this tyranny.

The visionary Mike Moncrief and Jungus Jordan are to be forever thanked for saving us from this handout to developers! We sure showed those Feds where they could stick their $25 million!!!

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday.

I am annoyed beyond belief that I will be out of town on a trip for this. I was fully intending to be there with signs thanking Mike Mongrief and others for their hand in this day. My BIL who lives in Oak Cliff was also going to hold a sign thanking Fort Worth.

The handout the developer rolls on! Now with an expansion to Bishop Arts. Who would want such a thing? I'm sure folks would much rather try to find a parking spot amongst the hottest area in Dallas. Thank you Moncrief and Council for saving us from this construction!!

Portion Of Dallas Streetcar To Close As Expansion Nears, Effective Wednesday, April 13, 2016

Beginning Wednesday, April 13, construction will require the partial closure of the Dallas Streetcar for approximately five weeks.

The free service will operate from Dallas Union Station to Oakenwarld Station only. Between Oakenwald and Beckley Station, customers may use Route 722 D-Link Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-midnight. During non-D-Link hours, a free DART shuttle will serve that segment.

The construction is necessary to physically connect the current streetcar and its future extension to the Bishop Arts area, scheduled for completion in August. The work will also cause the relocation of several bus stops along Colorado Blvd.
