I'm sure I could figure this out if I went back and read through the thread.  Is it 10 stories including the garage or 10 stories of residential on top of a garage?

I read it as 10-stories on top of the garage, but the garage is also built into the grade of the site, at least based on the renderings here: https://www.goldenro...65301198&pid=14

West 7th is getting the ambassadors, like Downtown has, as part of a safety initiative for the area.

Some crazy footage from a police chase that took place on 7th the other day:

Even though the new curbs/median slowed the officers down a bit, I can't help but think they also helped to prevent a head-on collision and surely slowed down the drunk driver too.

It would be great if they could redevelop this small parcel as other-than-a-bar. I wonder if residential could fit in the space ... a short row of townhomes would fit but I'm not sure they're compatible with the nightlife.

My guess is the current nightlife scene isn’t long for this world over the next decade or so.

More likely they could extend that wing of the apartments to wrap around the west side of the parking garage.

I agree but I'm not sure if it all disappears but who knows what the future holds.  The issue with it is that all of it is squeezed into a small area that is hard to get in and out of efficiently even when the area is isn't clogged with partygoers.  I think it needs to have a few small bodegas and a few restaurants and a couple of bars but more residential.  Having it feel more neighborhoody is what I think it will morph into.

Bud Kennedy reports about a possible newcomer at the site of the old Wendy's on West Seventh.
Terry Black's Barbecue, an Austin legacy, buys restaurant in west Fort Worth

I saw some dirt moving on the site today.   Guess this will get going soon.

Another shooting and death in the Crockett St. area is not doing anything to help that area get a fresh start.  Even a heavy police presence did not help.

Yeah, well there was a time when downtown wasn't a place you'd want to be after 5pm as well...

The city and police department need to get control of this asap or else it is going to dramatically effect all the progress going on in Museum place and around the Cultural District.

Maybe they need to rebrand it "New Hell's Half Acre" and step away.

Does anyone know what is happening with Terra? Is it still going to come back? I feel like it was announced a really long time ago.

Too many bars.  The area is going to have serious problems going forward as people will stay away in droves.  With all the police presence they still are having shootings.  Not very reassuring.

I don't know much about the details on this last incident, but I a little bit wonder if as more of this happens the people least likely to do these things are the ones that read about the incidents and are most likely to stay away, and if by shunting those people away it has some kind of "distilling" (in a bad way) effect on the crowd.  Or perhaps if they are not staying away, they are thinking more that it would be a good idea to carry.  And we know that just doesn't mix too well with heavy drinking.

I was in Houston not long ago and was talking to a developer and 7th st came up and the problems going on, he mentioned they had a similar issue in an area, I cant remember right now the name of it, but because of all the issues they majorly ramped up the police presence and of course then the people began complaining you couldn't go there without "being Harassed by the Police" and after about 18 months over half the places were closed as people just quit going there and moved on to other places. I could easily see this happening with the 7th St area.

That's one solution.

Could be too much of a concentration of bars; if a few closed and were replaced by... something else it might not be the worst outcome.

RE: concentration of bars...

The problems were kind of inevitable as the hard liquor sales went up:

https://www.fortwort...c=1866&p=140073

Where we were in the thread around that time talk about the squeezing-out process of the nicer places.

It seems like with the new developments going in that the property will become more valuable as something other than the drinking district (although that is big money that those places are making), and that will ease up the problems, or perhaps just push them to another area.

I'm not understanding what you mean by departing from the concept.  This seems like the layout they last presented.  What is it that you are noticing as a departure?

Hmmm... I thought the Mullet name came from the shape of the development... LOL..    Because the buildings that front University are shorter than the residential on the backside.  Hence the definition of a mullet.  I feel so dumb now.   :roflol:

Also interesting that Farrington is in it. If it ever sells, I assume the new property owner would be paying into the PID.
