When they completed the FitWorth Bridge, it was a big help.  Shortly after it was completed, we used that whole side of the river to go further south on the trail when the low water crossing at TX 183 was under water.  It offers a good alternative and a way to change your route some, yet going to the same place.

Due to living and working on this side of town (somewhat), I know all of the shortcuts and work arounds about the trail.  I also know of a lot of difficult hills, if I want to do a challenging ride.

Ranier Hill had me huffing and puffing Saturday but I refused to walk the bike.  Going back down was fun...35 MPH.  I broke the 40 mph mark once many years ago with a 24-speed mountain bike on a much longer descent.  I'm sure that's a normal day for most road bikers.

Ranier Hill is a challenge.  All of Tanglewood and Overton Park offers difficult hills, and that is even closer to my house than the trail.  (Of course, the Overton Park Branch of the trail system goes along there as well, but I was referring to the main section of the Trinity Trails.)  Ranch View Road, offers the most difficult hills if you ride eastbound from Bellaire Drive South culminating with Suicide Hill.  I've measured a 19% grade on my Garmin, and Strava says it's even steeper.  The first hill east of Bellaire Dr. S. measures at 13% on my Garmin.  When I was in good shape, I would use Ranch View Road as training for the FWBA's Leakey Scenic Challenge (3rd Weekend in October).  Another place with a lot of short, steep hills is the Ridglea Hills neighborhood near my office.

I'm not sure I've ever made up up Ranier.  Maybe once.  If I'm going south I either cut through Foster Park or take Inwood to Bilglade.

A few years ago I rode my bike from West Vickery Boulevard near the Highway 183 bridge eastward through the Overton Park area and, finally, to TCC South campus.  Then back to my home in southwest FW.  No trails at all on this southern stretch, just steep hills, wide open fields, railroad tracks.  Whew!

After the Overton Park Trail through Foster Park and down Westcreek Drive, there aren't any bike trails going east.  You have to rely on the city streets and there are some big hills and a lot of railroad tracks.  East of McCart, you have some of the "newest" older neighborhoods of the South Side as the city expanded toward what was built as I-20/820.

I drove through the development for the first time in a few months and I noticed that the land across the oxbow from the Hotel has been cleared and it getting excavated.  More apartments?  Restaurant?  other?

I'm intrigued to know what it could be.

The link wouldn't work for me. and I tried google searching the headline but could only find a 30sec aerial video with no sound from star telegrams "flipboard"

Was this the malicious "negligence" of DR Horton again?

Paper says Hines

This is "negligence" from an environmental perspective and the guilty party is the city.  Don't blame Hines or Trademark.  Excerpt from S-T article:  Hines Waterside LLC, which owns the deed to the property, and Trademark Property met all city requirements and received the applicable permits before moving forward with construction...

Maybe the City Council should have, some time ago, dedicated a large expanse of this land a "wilderness preservation district" as an environmental protection from urban development.  As the city dedicates park land within urban areas.

More than anything, as the City continues to grow and infill continues to happen, we need to implement protected and heritage tree classifications that have to be mitigated or preserved by developers in order to preserve our urban forest canopy.

These are the trees that I mentioned were cleared on the other side of the oxbow from the new Hotel at Waterside.  I wasn't aware that they were environmentally protected.  What a shame.

The problem I have with chicken and waffles (or chicken tenders in general) is that no one knows how to make the chicken without burning it to a crisp.

We've been going to Fixture on magnolia about once every other month for Sunday brunch, I always have, and until given a reason otherwise will order their chicken and waffles.  And for whatever reason, every time we are there, we make the same comment, "its so good, and less expensive than you'd expect, especially happy hour drinks."

They do rosemary seasoning on their chicken & waffles... I think I had it there once (just to see what the hubbub was about).  The rosemary was weird.

I'm not really into sweets in general so thinking of having syrup on my fried chicken doesn't appeal to me one bit which I why I tend to avoid ordering chicken and waffles.  I'm much more into savory foods

That wasn't part of the original sale, so unless they sold that chunk also it's probably something for CERA or possibly some infrastructure work that required the fields to be torn up.

Square Footage: 3,841 ft 2
Are the private funds provided by the tenant? Yes

FW WATERSIDE COMMERCIAL LLC

Trying to figure out which space First Watch is going into. Many tenants have 5924 Convair as an address, and the TABS posting doesn't state a suite number. On the Waterside site plan, the space with the closest size as First Watch (3841 sqft) appears to be A100 at the south end of the REI building (3832 sqft).
