Anyone know why Concerts in the Garden has moved to the last week in May and the first two weeks in June?  Seems like the number of events is slimmed down some too.  I'm sure there's something to the idea that the weather could be more favorable, but that wasn't the case at that time of year in 2022.

Note: Due to last year’s scorching temperatures, the summer series has been moved up to May and June — rather than June and July — for the protection of both musicians and concertgoers. The fireworks show has also been replaced with a nightly drone show due to drought precautions and city ordinances.

It looks like the downbeat / call time for all of these concerts is at 8:30pm so I would hope no one suffers too bad of heat stroke at that time of the evening.

Question: These themed cover bands / tribute bands are quite popular now, do other forum members typically enjoy these kind of shows vs seeing an original artist perform their own set?  There's a couple original artists I wouldn't mind seeing outdoors at a venue like this but rare that they would come to Fort Worth.  They're certainly not stadium sellout level performances but maybe an hour or two set at a festival.  I was walking around looking at the sound stages during Main Street Arts and had mixed feelings of what I saw kind of thinking to myself "you all sound pretty good but no clue who you are."  Really not a "I'm glued to my seat and not going to miss a single note of this band" type of experience.

I guess I get that they're playing by the averages and looking at last year as atypical.  The high temperature on Saturday, June 11 was 102 with a temperature of 96 at 8:00.

Probably for the sake of the artists, crew and personnel involved too, I know set-up and tear down on these events in the heat could be murder.  Do they have any off-stage facilities for the crew or is it just motor coaches only?

I noticed Levitt Pavilion in Arlington they built a Levitt Center out in left field that looks like a nice reprieve from the heat.  I haven't been inside but I'm a fan of that venue in general.  Nice location, nice quality all around.

I honestly have never quite understood why they choose the run this series in the summer months.  I have only gone twice and the second time was so hot, humid and uncomfortable that I have been reluctant to go again.  The first time I went it was humid but not as hot because it was overcast most of the time and thankfully not rain.

The threat of rain and storms earlier in the spring and in the fall is likely more of a problem than the heat in the summer.

I asked them when I bought tickets and the answer was the union balked at the performances. Said it is hard on the people and the instruments. Either cut them back or the union membership would not perform any longer.

Exciting improvement projects revealed for zoo and botanic garden

https://www.fortwort...023/10/zoo-fwbg

Fort Worth Botanic Garden

City Council separately approved an infrastructure construction agreement with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas for up to $6.3 million to construct improvement projects at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

While the City owns the property, BRIT has operated the gardens on a day-to-day basis since June 2020.

In May 2022, residents approved the 2022 Bond Program, which included $7 million to fund capital improvements at the Botanic Garden. The projects and 2022 bond dollars include:

-Childrens Garden and greenhouse site preparation.
-Master plan design development.
-South Vista event venue.
-Japanese Garden renovations.
-Infrastructure improvements.
-Pedestrian and circulation improvements.
-Rolling Hills greenhouse construction.
