A major review of the Master Thoroughfare Plan is being taken up by a city task force, the first such review since 2009:

http://fwbusinesspre...eet-design.aspx

Some of the touch phrases include multi-mode, bike lanes, roundabouts, additional street classifications, sidewalk width, "complete streets", efficient travel routes/resolving gaps in continuity, orderly growth/sustainable development, and "planned-road diets" (my translation). The task force is made up of a variety on interests, but seems weighted with development types. Was I don't know the individuals I cannot comment on their level of "enlightenment" with modern trends, but the description of the job to be done leads this reader to feel that some positive results could emerge from the process. If such a plan is adopted it would still be up to the notoriously plastic City Council to actually make the guidelines stick in each particular situation.

Yeah I saw this and then was searching on how to "volunteer" but I couldn't find a way.

I am guessing volunteer just means "select volunteers"

I think you mean Cherry Lane, not Cherry Street downtown, right?

Thanks.  I think you've corrected me on this before.  I work not far from Cherry Street downtown and get the two street names mixed up!

Aren't there 3 separate streets named "Mistletoe" in Mistletoe Heights?

Yes, there are three streets named "Mistletoe" in the neighborhood.  They are Mistletoe Drive, Mistletoe Ave., and Mistletoe Blvd.

Street; in Downtown its Cherry Street. With a couple of exceptions, all of the Downtown corridors include Street with their name.

Mentioning the multiple names for the Mistletoe Corridors has revive my personal wish that the segment of Forest Park Blvd between West Freeway and Belknap/Weatherford be changed to Trinity Drive to better reflect its relationship to Clear Fork.

We already have a Trinity Blvd. from Handley-Ederville Rd. to the east City Limit Line and then to S. Belt Line Rd. in Grand Prairie.

JTR, of course I am aware that there is a Trinity Blvd that meanders along an obscure stretch of the river in East Tarrant County and where the name is wasted for a majority of the county's residents.

However, if Fort Worth can have Mistletoe Ave, Mistletoe Dr, Mistletoe Blvd, Cherry St and Cherry Ln, then why can't the City have both a Trinity Blvd and a Trinity Drive?  We also have 8th Ave, 8th St, 5th Ave, 5th St. and so on.

I think that the drive along the banks of the Clear Fork could be named Trinity Drive as it is more closely aligned with the river than the boulevard in the eastern parts of Tarrant County.

And here is a thought, Dallas had no issue at all in renaming Industrial Blvd to Riverfront Blvd to reflect and to pay homage to its stretch of the Trinity River.  Dallas also names important bridges to reflect their importance to the city, Cities like NYC do the same (Holland Tunnel, Brooklyn Bridge).

I do believe that Fort Worth takes a "leave it as it is" approach to important landmarks within the City that I find to be a missed opportunity to honor important landmarks.  One could imagine with the current mindset something like the "Lancaster Avenue Memorial Center" instead of the more notable name Will Rogers Memorial Center.

I personally don't have a problem with two different streets having the same name like 5th St. vs. 5th Ave., but I'm willing to bet the Fire and Police Departments would probably prefer for that to not occur.  Trinity Drive would make a great name for that stretch of road.

as I understand it, as for the numeric roads, street typically denotes East-West axis and avenue denotes a North-South
