I wouldn't call it open yet, more like "put together enough that you can drive a few parts here and there"

I'm sorry that I implied that it was "open" by my post. The street is not finished. It is just as Austin had said, in that it is paved and constructed enough that you can drive a few parts. However, when I drove down it the other day, I headed southbound from Vickery to Tucker or Annie Streets.

A 6 story medical office is planned at 1,111 Pennsylvania, adjacent to the Oxshear House. There is an existing MCM building there, which will likely be torn down.

Kelly Capital Partners plans a 14 unit town home complex along Terrell between St. Louis and May streets. A good use for the area, where several much older houses still remain in a small cluster.

"Victory Forest project stopped after subcontractors claim payments are due from prime contractor"
http://fortworthtexa...-Forest-update/
Per Ann Zadeh at our neighborhood meeting on 3/23/17:
- The original contract was terminated mid-march.
- On March 24, the city attorney and bond company met at the site to estimate the remaining construction.
- Parks and Community Services is ready to move ahead with programs as soon as construction is complete. The director of Victory Forest Center was also in attendance.

Twilite Lounge, a music venue & bar in Deep Ellum, is opening a second location in Fort Worth's near southside.
This was originally reported about a year ago, but I drove by the other day so I can confirm that work is now proceeding at the FW location. It's at Lipscomb & Daggett - two blocks south of Vickery and a block west of Hemphill.
For those of you that are P1's, Danny Balis is a co-owner of this establishment.

With the explosion of new redevelopment now going on and planned, the Near South is really undergoing a grass root non-corporatized transformation. It will be just the neighborhood that young people will migrate towards. Talk of the City having an image problem is and will be proven wrong.

I hop you're right. I just don't know if the high rents in the area and lack of public amenities at this time can make this happen as quickly as we would like it to. I believe it may take quite a bit more time than we might think. It is a great area with really good bones and selling points to make it a truly genuine and hip part of Fort Worth. With the explosion of new redevelopment now going on and planned, the Near South is really undergoing a grass root non-corporatized transformation. It still feels far from finished if I must be honest and realistic.

Oooph. That is a total loss.
I hate that the first thing I wondered about was arson. The preliminary report says accident is suspected.
Yeah, that was a shocker. I have friends who frequently went that I heard from first.

Ray Williams' family has owned the land for about 50 years. He leased the building to the Rainbow Lounge. Right now, he has no plans to rebuild, especially with rising property values in the area just south of downtown.
"I know property values in this area have just skyrocketed in the last three years,” he said. “So it may be more advantageous just to scrape and sell the land."
Williams says he is self-insured and is not inclined to rebuild. For someone else to buy the property and rebuild is not impossible, but will be expensive.

The Texas Oncology building is moving along, a second level of steel is poking up now. The structure of the prefab garage has been up for a while. Not liking the 20' wall of concrete facing Henderson. No matter what it get's covered in it will certainly make that length of the block uninviting for pedestrians.

It is a shame that they are going to block most of the view of the building from Henderson. Also, the wall is going to be very imposing and may overwhelm that small stretch of Henderson between 30 & Pennsylvania. A bit of a missed opportunity IMO.

There is a whole lot of rebar in it. They spent several weeks doing the reinforcing and forms. I stop by Jack in the Box for lunch sometimes (far too often) and have been watching it go up.

Yep, same lots then. I wonder why they didn't connect the drives to the lot for Schaumburg Lofts. I'm sure that is platted as an alley. I also wonder how they are going to deal with the existing pole mounted transformer and services to the five condos on the back building?
Those residents are going to love the truck traffic for the Lighthouse. Hopefully the city will be done with the street construction on College by the time they are built? At the rate is has been happening, I doubt it...

One of the better looking multifamily development.
Very much a design of the times, done the right way; and without a sea of outdoor parking surrounding the residential units!
