I am currently in search of a place to live for the summer and my final year at TCU. What are some good, cheap, SAFE apartments or houses that work well with people that are TCU students? When I say cheap I don't really know what that means because at home my parents pay $450/month for a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1 car garage in a decent neighborhood. I know that is extremely cheap here but is probably closer to average in Palestine. Also if there is a place like an agency that works well with students that would help too.

Also would like to add that my on-campus apartment costs $2780/semester, next year $2919, and four of us live here. TCU is proud of their crap. However my student loans pay for it and that is how I will probably pay for most of my apartment off campus as well.

Go to campus housing. They always have a list of off campus aprtments/homes and even apartments in back of some very expensive homes for rent.

Usually the rates are pretty cheap as well as they are TCU alumni.

Try Westcliff Manor Apartments on South Hills by the Minyard's shopping. They have a lot of TCU students and are not too bad in cost if you have roomates.

I was checking out the TCU website and noticed that Grad School tuition was less than Undergrad. Is that for real or just a transpose error?

I have no clue. I know for two classes over the summer tuition is $4,110 so $2,055 per class. I also know that undergrad for next year for the flat rate 12-18 hours will be somewhere around $21,500. My freshman year, 2001-2002, it was $13,900. So it is proabably real. For next year the place I live will cost $2,919/semester plus a $550 dining plan. Add in fees, books and housing and TCU costs at least $30,000/yr now.

After looking closer I realize it's due to full time grad students have only 9 hours so the cost per hour is about the same or a bit more depending on the hours taken by an undergrad.

Educational expenses for a full-time* student for the 2005-2006 academic year are estimated to be:

Classification Tuition * Room/Board Books/Supplies Personal Allowance Travel **
Undergraduate Students $21,280 /$6,980 /$810 /$2,810 /$340
Graduate Students $13,320 /$8,780 /$810 /$3,525 /$990

* Full time tuition is calculated as follows:
New students and current students based on 12-18 hours.
Graduate students are calculated based on 9 hours per semester.
** Travel costs shown are calculated for in-state students. Undergraduate students from outside Texas have an estimated travel cost of $694.
