John, I'm pretty sure I live east of you, if you are in SW Fort Worth. I am almost due south of Downtown. The fireworks may originate near me, but I'm not real sure how far the sound can carry.

Well... I'm reconsidering Dallas. The last TRE train leaves Union Station at 12:10am (it will be running on a Saturday schedule). That run only goes to West Irving, so that's the station I would get on and off at.
Originally, I was thinking 10 minutes after midnight would not be enough time to watch fireworks anywhere and make my way towards the train. But, the fireworks launch from Reunion Tower... right next to the TRE platform!
My only concern is, the fireworks show lasts 9 minutes. If it runs long, I might have to miss the end of the show, or the train may take off without me.
Perhaps I could watch from Victory Station instead... but then I wouldn't be practically under the fireworks.
If cities selfishly want to ban private fireworks, they ought to provide a legal alternative. Most cities including Fort Worth aren't, so they (the cities) have no room to complain about private fireworks.

I could be mistaken, but are you sure you have your information correct on those schedules for New Years Eve? Says here that TRE will operate Saturday's service on Friday Dec 31 but not operate on Saturday Jan 1. The last stop for Friday's (Saturday) schedule departs at 12:10am (which is technically then Saturday, but last stop is West Irving and then to their yard / garage by PGBT and Rock Island Rd. I wouldn't risk it...that's an expensive Uber home. Let us know what you find out, you understand these schedules better than I do, I only ride it once every 15 years.

Post-midnight departures are still considered part of the previous day if they're on the previous day's schedule. Basically, Saturday morning just after midnight is still considered Friday night.
The TRE arrives 8 minutes before midnight and sits at Union Station about 18 minutes before departing, so I may ask the conductor if they plan to wait a minute or two if the fireworks run long. If not, I'll set my phone alarm for 12:09. If fireworks are still going, I'll miss the end of the show.
If I somehow miss the train while standing on its platform, I suppose I'll spend more time in Dallas and get a Lyft or Uber back to West Irving station.

Okay, how are cities selfish for banning fireworks?
Celebrating New Year's Day and Independence Day with fireworks has been tradition for decades if not centuries. People ought to be able to celebrate with fireworks.

I, too, am concerned about the public safety issue. Personally, I wouldn't mind a brief round of fireworks going off at an appropriate time in my area on New Year's Eve and the Fourth of July. For example, i can tolerate 15 or 20 minutes of firecracker popping around midnight of NYE, and that's it. Unfortunately, some jerk in our area, in the past, has been setting them off sporadically during the week before and the week after NYE. It has caused me loss of sleep during a busy work week, and it causes the neighborhood dogs to bark endlessly.

There will be a firework show in the lots to the SE of the arena tonight post concert. Show is scheduled to end at 12:10 and then guests can head to the plaza on the east side of the arena to watch the show on exit, don't have many details on size and timing but should be something for those on this side of town to catch

On the news before NYE they had mentioned a drone show with the Reunion display, but I have not noticed video that included it. Does anyone know if it happened? Did I just miss video?

Light rain was approaching Dallas during the firework show. I suppose they decided that rain and drones don't mix.

The drone show happened. I've seen several videos.
Wow. I guess NBC 5 forgot to show it!
Either that, or it didn't happen around the time of the fireworks. They cut back to a musician after the fireworks.

This was my first New Year's Eve celebration at Sundance Square. A friend and I joined the crowd of revelers a few feet in front of a really loud band. For a while the crowd had a small open circle devoted to wild dancing. But I think the SS security people closed it off after it looked like it was getting a little out of hand. There were some side shows like two cowboys with lassos, a guy juggling led-lighted wands, and an Uncle Sam-type on stilts.
All in all, a fun and exciting event, especially the fireworks show that began at the stroke of midnight when the 2023 clock replaced the word "TCU" at the top of the building.
It's too bad we hardly ever get snow this time of year. But the fake snowflakes did add to the festive occasion.

Sounds like a nice event. I saw a little coverage on local news, but nothing live that I noticed.
NBC5 had a live special for the Reunion Tower event and totally screwed up the coverage right at midnight. Their feed froze up with around 5 seconds to go in the countdown and picked up about 5 or 10 seconds after midnight. The fireworks and the drone show were really impressive.

Fox 4 had it. They showed the tower fireworks with the drone show happening on the side of it. If NBC 5 didn't show it, then they must have been zoomed in on just the tower. From the view on Fox, the drone show looked like it was just beside the tower.

Since I was scheduled to work on New Year's Eve night (DFW Airport), I decided to go to Grapevine's Harvest Hall after work for their celebration.
They had a DJ and surprisingly loud music considering the location. I enjoyed it.
There were no fireworks since it was indoors, but the firework show Sundance Square puts on is too short to enjoy anyway.
