I am loving the ATT Tornado, certainly iconic.  Is there a way to show what the skyline might look like if these concepts were constructed?

Thanks.

And I can show how the skyline would look with all these models in the picture.

... however, it would have to be a low-res rendering since together, they take up too much space and could potentially make my computer crash.

I left a crease at the top for lighting.

At the bottom, I wanted two large medallions for ornamentation. The ones you see  are from the 2 1/2 coin (?), not exactly what I'd want, but you get the idea.

I see you're experiment with textures, that looks better here.

Federal building is really neat, glass boxes are still "in" and generally still look nice IMO.

BOA-My only complaint is that it's maybe about 300 feet to short...

Looks Pelli who is like, my favorite.

Well, there is a reason for that....

And from now on, I'm using textures instead of just colors for my windows. Just doesn't really look right, ya know?

Thanks.

I wanted to put in more curves. It was just free-form at the time when I was making it.

Nice building! You are getting better with textures for sure. It can be harder to show detail but makes showing facade styles way easier. Again the the location seems silly, with that giant antennae right there. I think Brian would like to have a word with you :P

Yeah, I actually had Brian in mind when I made it.

Notice how the tallest part of it is pushed to the other side and it's not that tall of a tower compared to what we already have.

I can show (some of) the re-textured buildings.

As for the entire skyline... that's gonna take a while.

It will likely be a redo of this demolished department store building and they will called it the "Monnig Building" as this has been the model most frequently taken for their redevelopment of the area called Sundance Square.

Funny that this was brought back up (...and not quite sure how), but over the past couple weeks, I thought about just having a monument on that lot with the studio tower placed somewhere else.... maybe in Uptown.

Burnett Plaza (II) re-work.
Height: 550'
Floors: 38
Site: Burnett, W. 10th, Cherry, & Texas
Type: Mixed-use (3 of the first 4 floors are residential. The rest is office)

.... I just HAD to redo this one again. I got some suggestions of making it taller. Didn't want to at first, but the last design of this building seemed too stubby. Also, I wanted to rework the plaza and make it match the actual landscape, so that's why you see a slope. I also wanted to add a garage to one of the blocks across the street (for residents), but felt the building was more important)

Jeriat,

Your suggestions for Burnett Plaza are spot on!  So too bad that you were not in the room when the design work was being discussed for that building.

Thank you. I wish the same, because (as some of you know) I HATE the current Burnett Plaza. Even worse, it replaced a building more elegant and respected than that one.

Anyway...

E. 12th Tower re-work.
Height: 673'
Floors: 40
Site: E. 12th, Calhoun, & Jones
Type: Office

Again, I took the garage out because I wanted the main building to be the focus. Also, I thought it was better if I made it shorter and this particular design is much more what I originally had in mind. The other was too bulky, much like a building you'd see in Houston or Dallas.

- Ground floor: Some retail (maybe a plaza or greenspace)
- Design: Skinny box with setbacks and somewhat of a pseudo-art deco glass style like Williams Tower
- Style: International/Neo Deco
- Facade Material: Navy and light blue glass curtain, white and silver aluminum siding.

Believe it or not, I have warmed up to the Burnett Plaza west elevation.  With a little bit of lighting and faux deco, it could be made to be very interesting.  How about taking what is there and giving both the east and west elevations a makeover.

As an example, consider what the subtle changes have made to modernize the original look of Center Place Tower One. The deco and lighting makes a world of difference.

I know where you're going with that, but I already had an idea for it (the observation tower), and I'll go back over that entire area after I'm done re-vising them. Speaking of which:

Jeriat, is the angle for the offset of the tower in your Aloft design the same as for the change in street patterns at Burnet Park? If yes, great play!

Well, it's based on what's already there... the motor bank. However, if that was built for the change in street patterns, then (accidentally) yes. lol

Great designs. I wish I could implement all of them.

Only if I were a multi-billionaire...

I'd love to see the Panther City tower go up one day. That building looks great!

I also like the block TU tower (Though I wouldn't mix residential and office) and the Firestone tower. Not a fan of the XTO tower though.

I don't know, I'm having a hard time of thinking why. Something to do with the proportions of the shapes. I guess it's just personal taste.

Oh.

BTW, that Block TU tower is mixed residential and office because the original was meant to be residential and office. (Notice the date...)

That sucks Block TU never got built. Not crazy about their version of the tower, though.

Yeah, not exactly the prettiest design.

But one thing about that, this was before the economy took a dive, so that may have a little to do with it...

AT&T Building (3rd concept)
Height: 373' ft. / 470' ft. w/ communication tower
Floors: 26
Site: Existing City Hall site.
Type: Office

It's been a while since I've done one of these...

1185932_10201085648576810_1584086223_n.j

I HAD to come back to this, for some reason. I like the Tornado concept I did, but wanted to see what it would look like as a more generic (and probably more realistic) design.

1185631_10201085648376805_317096749_n.jp

With this design, the offices are all on the outside, surrounding a large core of the communications equipment built inside.

1170806_10201085650976870_1819186437_n.j

And unlike the two previous designs, there's no garage, just more of the building and a little more of the plaza.

1011928_10201085650736864_1606427066_n.j

The ground floor would feature retail along Jennings and the plaza area, with 10th and Monroe making up the main entrances for the offices.

1173873_10201085649496833_1373979727_n.j

1000343_10201085665577235_622845955_n.jp

- Ground floor: Retail and plaza space
- Design: Boxy with zig zag setbacks.
- Style: Post Modern
- Facade Material: Black curtain wall, tan concrete

Yes it has been awhile. Nice clean structure you have there Jeriat. Now if we can convince or find rather a billionaire to take this on, hmm.....

Tarrant County Plaza Tower
Height: 886'
Floors: 64
Site: Northeast corner of Tarrant County Plaza (200 Taylor St.)
Type: Office

You'll spot some similarities between this and the 200 Taylor concept I made earlier, but I'm considering this to be a new building instead of just a remake. The concept is to be the tallest tower in a complex with 2 other buildings and parking garage with a new (ground level) plaza facing Burnett St.

1174533_10201175588665256_1134881115_n.j

I kinda freestyled the roof, so consider it unfinished.

- Ground floor: Retail (on the plaza and on Taylor Street), office space
- Design: Boxy with a ornate crown/lantern & spire
- Style: Postmodern
- Facade Material: 3 shades of blue curtain wall with bronze tiling and tan concrete.

You really should find someone to fund these ideals and make all of these a reality. Buildings like this would make Fort Worth grow so much more and our skyline look so much better.

I wish.

But it's all about demand. Right now, there doesn't seem to be too much of it...

Block TU (touch up)

I decided to touch up (and add a few things) to the first skyscraper I posted here. I gave it more realistic windows this time.

The Worthington Renaissance Hotel
Height: 429' ft.
Floors: 33
Site: Joe Daiches / 100 Main block
Type: Hotel

(SIDE NOTES: there would be a 7 level garage with underground parking on the site where the current hotel basketball and tennis courts are. I just didn't make it because I thought it wasn't important enough to focus on.)

10256328_10204096396563628_4901457910318

Ballrooms, indoor swimming pool, work out facilities, meeting rooms and other functions would be located in this section where 100 Main is standing and overhead of Joe Daiches.

I wonder if there is any sentiment from anyone in the business community, that has the means to do so, to build anything on this scale or are we shooting for having the titles of world's largest small town and largest city in the US without pro sports forever? :ninja:
