Can anyone give me some history on Elmwood Sanitorium on Kimbo in Fort Worth? I need either info or links where I can find historical data on this location.

The sanitarium Judith Cohen mentions in Cowtown Moderne is the Elmwood Sanitarium. She states that it was on Old Decatur Road. However, the 1943 Fort Worth City Directory lists it on Denton Road, one block east of North Sylvania. The 1952 City Directory gives the address as 2805 Kimbo, which is just north of the intersection of Sylvania and NE 28th St. A 1953 map of Fort Worth shows the "Tarrant County Farm" located on the north side of Kimbo just east of Sylvania.

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if Old Decature or Denton roads changed names to Kimbo or has Kimbo always been Kimbo. If so, then there may be more than one asylum/sanitarium in Tarrant County.
