Just a different point of view...

Before you fall out of your chair looking at this image...Question? Where is this Czech photographer standing to take this picture?

http://www.virtualcz...lidka.php?p=134

After a few days .. I will show you our website.. that demonstrates how this was done.

The photographer most likely has one of those RC mini-blimp balloons with a DCam attached???

The location is in the beautiful CRepublic town of Telc or Teltsch (German), at Zacharias Plaza (of Hradec, named after the builder of the castle). Added to the UNESCO ( '92) sights of international heritage, it lies north of the Alps and is one of the BEST preserved towns of the old KING routes, having served a midway point between Prague and Vienna. The picture given mentions a castle in the middle of Telc , but hard to translate for me.

To be there is to be in one of the most beautiful lands in all the world. And the ladies, WOWWWW, where does one begin. (Think MODELS, like the one married to that weird THE CARS guy) GREAT beer too. wub.gif There is also this one Grand Hotel in CRepublic that is just to die for.

From what many of financial advisors have been saying for the past 2 years , Eastern Europe is the HOTBED in foreign investment. Many here may recall my ad for CROATIA some 3 years ago. The coastal lands have been swept up heavily by the rich these past 5 years. Rising property values have been noted at 500% in many cases.

I also want to know exactly how this is done. Mirrors possibly??? Can't wait for the website.

Other great pics of Telc and the ponds (Reflective)

Ok.. fair is fair... Thanks for the Telc city description expansion.

Martin Hrdlicka is the fellow in the red shirt standing on the walkway who took panorama using a 20' long fiberglass [HD] pole with a special camera mount at the end. I think he told me his camera was a Canon 20d and Sigma 8mm f3.5 lens.

He telescoped it out 20 feet and up at a 45°. Because the Sigma has an angle of view of 180° he took 4 images around the pole axis. He told me he complained alot about sweaty hands when taking the image set.

I have always wanted to try something like that but had never had the nerve to suspend a Canon 5d over the edge of anything higher than my tripod. I did some Google searches for a tutorial page but could not find one.

So in the spirit of community learning, I asked Rodrigo Alarcon-Cielock (lives in Liverpool, UK) to give me a hand. He uses a Canon 350d and a Tokina 10-17mm full frame fisheye lens [180° measured diagonally] which is different than the Sigma 8mm full circle fisheye lens. I only need to take 4 he needs to take 8 images.

Along the way we picked up some useful information from John Houghton (UK) Yuval Levy (Canada) and Milko Amorth in (Canada).

My Over the Edge [coined OTE] attempt was taken conveniently in my backyard. Rodrigo's 5th Floor balcony OTE was taken few weeks ago while on holiday in Spain. Martin's OTE was taken at Telc Czech Rep - UNESCO World Heritage site.

I am still working on this tutorial, but for now enjoy learning something new http://360texas.com/...epano/index.htm

haha, I cant imagine why.

I never went to Telc, but I spent a year and a half in the Czech republic. CZ and Croatia are two of my favorite places I have been.

I had a sneaking suspicion that the guy in the red shirt was the photographer. I also thought a pole might be involved, but I couldn't figure out why the mount was not showing in the picture. Nice work.

EDIT:

After seeing Houghton's work, I have to wonder where is the mount black hole on the Czech picure. There seems to be some distortion in the railing in front of the photographer. Did he edit out the black hole?
