This building is not aesthetically pleasing.  It looks like left over bits from random buildings were just pieced together to form it.  The glass fin on the right side of this picture is so bizarre.  It doesn't fit the building design at all.

I still hate that "crown" the most.

The top doesn't fit the rest of the building.

Not just the top, but that top "canopy" kind of hangs off the east side and dribbles all the way down the side of the building.

The whole thing just looks... tacky.

Like one of my older skyscraper models.

Hopefully, they will refine their design before it gets built.

I wonder if the crown is part of the "Canopy" brand design elements?

Well let's see:

Austin

San Antonio

Uptown Dallas

Portland

Minneapolis

Tempe

W. Palm Beach

Philly

...nah, I don't think so.

There are FAR better designs here, so there's no excuse for the randomness of this building.

The San Antonio Canopy is one of the best looking buildings built in the state recently.

I have no idea how serious the proposal is, but the developer (FTW BLU HOTELS LLC) still owns the land.

Here's a link to an article in the San Antonio Report on their Canopy Hotel.

Probably no surprise, but this seems to be cancelled as the property has been listed for sale: https://www.loopnet....th-TX/31224410/

That space probably shouldn't be a highrise, anyway.

Can't say I am disappointed because that was one ugly building! I do like the designs of the bar in Loopnet. I always liked this little building, I hope it stays a small cool little building but I can see it coming down for something much larger because of its proximity to the Convention Center.

I have worked for the guys who did the one in Austin, great guys, sadly we didn't get a chance to be involved as the GC they used wound up being a major equity partner in it. It is a beautiful Hotel on the inside.
