One of the things I enjoy about the buildings around town are the little details - easily overlooked, but lasting evidence of the long-ago craftsmanship some of the buildings were constructed with. Several examples!

From the top of the P.O. columns, I've posted one of these before, but found one without the brass stains

Fire Station 2 on Texas Street - signs of Art Deco!

The original Fort Worth fire bell - purchased in 1882 for the volunteer FD, used by the regular FD starting in 1893, and retired in 1912 when the automatic system was installed

From a day-trip to Galveston last weekend, it turns out their buildings have some nice details of their own!

Apologies in advance for the following barrage of photos, but I wandered 4 1/2 miles around town over the weekend with camera in tow, and couldn't help noticing more of the intricate architectural details that many might miss in the day to day grind!

This is like a building guessing game. What is the second to last one? Only one that I can't figure out.

Ah! I don't know the name of the building, but it is where Razoo's is - directly west of Haltom's jewelers. Now I have to confess - I actually had no clue which building it was, so went back to my pictures and found that I took a shot of the Burk Burnett at 1:52, and a shot of Haltom's at 1:53, and this shot was between those two, so had to be in the same block. I then had to go to Google street view to identify the roofline and building! Kinda fun actually :)

To identify the others (which, for the record, I did know) before I forget them:

1) Methodist church (duh)
2) Bob R. Simpson bldg (I'm impressed at the attention to details ± 200 feet off the ground) - UPDATE - I think this is actually the WT Waggoner bldg...
3) Flat Iron (duh again)
4) Sinclair (?) bldg - I know it better as the home of Picchi Pacchi (and the city's pigeon population)
5) The above discussed "Razoo bldg"
6) I think it was originally Continental Life - I'm guessing it has a new name now

It's the Western Union Building. All of you should check out the main site. Most of the downtown buildings are listed with descriptions and history.

Architecture in Fort Worth - Main Site

The Continental Life Building, picture #6 was originally named the Farmers & Mechanics National Bank. It then became the Fort Worth National Bank, then Continental Life Building, then Transport Life Building. Its current name is 714 Main.

Thanks John - I do need to remember to reference the main site - browsing through its wealth of information is how I found this forum in the first place!

Awesome :) I got them all right (in my mind) except Western Union. I was thinking to tall.

Thanks! I have one more that might be harder to identify (although this time I know where it is)

That's the T&P Terminal. The view through the windows is a dead giveaway.

Well played sir! This is the awning (?) over the entrance to the Waiting Room (aka Grand Ballroom)

That's a really beautiful little awning, very deco. I'd have never guessed what it was, JBB.
