While I do not think that this has anything to do with AA;  it is interesting that as of February 207, Irving's most recent effort to obtain a developer for this site ended unsuccessfully.

Sneak peak at some of the details of the new AA headquarters. There's a rendering of the full site at about 1 minute into the accompanying video:

http://www.star-tele...e148794014.html

A title change for this thread might be in order if we want to continue discussing the new headquarters here.

I did not see an accompanying video in the link. The design and plan sound great though.

This particular topic is obsolete as this subject is no longer relevant.  It was a rumor that actually had a miniscule chance of ever becoming true.

Better that future comments about American Airlines be posted in a different more generalized thread about all things American Airlines.

The thread title was changed. The headquarters is relocating. Why switch to a new topic if this one is running right along?

They are relocating from their old HQ on Amon Carter to their new HQ on the west side of 360.

John - can we get the thread title changed again to something like "New HQ construction for American Airlines"?

A large tower crane is up at the site.

There are 5 massive tower cranes up on the site now.  I didn't notice them heading east on 183 to 360 south, but they are very visible heading north on 360.

I don't care where you place this discussion.   I'm just happy that Fort Worth is home to this fabulous modern corporate campus when completed in 2019!  And, rest of America, AA is in Fort Worth, not Dallas!

These buildings are bigger and taller than I realized they would be.

They look impressive from the TRE, and I assume they're highly visible heading northbound on 360 as well.

They are also very visible to incoming air traffic when the winds are out of the north (ie when planes are landing from the south).  I saw them out the plane window a couple of weeks back and they look great.

They are indeed highly visible heading north on 360. They seem massive. My girlfriend asked why they needed so many cranes, I figured it was so they dont take forever.

I had to make a trip to Arlington to pick up my kid Sunday morning and I took 360 going north to go home.  The buildings are very impressive from the freeway.

The Star Telegram has a nice aerial shot of the complex.  The address doesn't allow for the image to be embedded.

A family member of mine is a contractor in Lubbock who's working on the new Buddy Holly Hall. He described thier staircase as the most complicated staircase ever built in Texas. I'd guess that one is up there as well.

Exterior view and setup reminds me a lot of the Best Buy headquarters in Richfield, MN (a "suburb" of Minneapolis that is inside the Loop)

American is replacing their on-site lodging for employees in training with a new hotel that is twice the size of the old one:

Old HQ is up for sale. 1.39 million sqft of space. Could be perfect for a company looking to relocate here. I'd imagine this will be one the pricier real estate deal in FTW in a while.

Surprised that there was an architect for that ugly box. Figured it was ordered out of the back of a SkyMall magazine.

Given that this building is Fort Worth in name only, I doubt we can expect much benefit to the City as a whole. I'd be shocked if more than 25% of the workers even live in Fort Worth.

It does have the benefit of having more square footage than even Burnett Plaza!

Moving this post to the thread about American's new campus

American Airlines is putting a half billion worth of building projects on hold at its corporate campus. Some of the projects, I believe the hotel and conference center, were already under construction.
