Earlier today I received an email that notified me of a reply to this thread. The reply, in its entirety, was included in the email but when I came to this site it was gone. I can only assume that the author, Kevin, had second thoughts about what he wrote and deleted it.
Not that he wrote anything wrong because he didn't but he did take me to task for my comments and that's certainly fair. Oddly enough I enjoyed the passion he put forth in his post. I'll respect his privacy and not repeat what he said, but I did want to address a few of his points.
Kevin, I didn't insult your intelligence. You are obviously a bright guy with a lot on the ball but I think you are a but sensitive about this and are taking comments as some kind of assault on your character / intelligence. Believe me, if I wanted to harass you or insult you, I wouldn't tap dance around it. It would come out like a freight train. So please remove that notion from your mind.
Sites take time and while we may start them as a hobby, once they gain an audience, as your site has done, then they take on a life of their own. So if you lose interest, passion or whatever you want to call it and cease to keep the site updated, then you do a disservice to your readers and to the effort that you have put forth to take the site as far as it has gone.
And I stand by my statement that topic moderation on a site like fortworthology.com is a snap, because it is. However you have to take personal feelings out of the equation and I get the feeling that would be difficult for you. So let me give you a tip. FInd a loyal reader that you trust and empower him / her as a moderator. That little bit of help can be invaluable and free you up for bigger and better things.
