Remember when Billy Bob's Texas used to be a retail store called Cook's?

I thought it was called Clarks. I was there once and remember thumbing through a Mad paperback magazine, that was the first time I had seen Mad, I don't remember if I was reading at that time but I liked what I saw. Some relatives lived in that part of town and the smell from the stockyards was very unpleasant.

Clark's was renamed Cook's. There was one on Camp Bowie in Ridglea too.

The one on Camp Bowie was in the east end of the strip center in the 6375 Block of Camp Bowie.  The old Crystal's Pizza was in part of that old structure.  Most of the old Clark's/Cook's Store was demolished to build the Tom Thumb grocery store, now anchoring the east end of the center.

I bought a brand new 1952 Ford convertable for aprox.$ 3600.00 from Frank Kent Ford that was in a big building with showroom right on North Main in what is now area next to Billy Bob's building. Later on Frank would take over Cadillac dealership and open on Lancaster Av.
