I hope this happens.  That light is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long to get thru and traffic congestion would be improved.

Maybe some should apologize to Ann Marion for the previous snub and ask her to pleeeeeeeeze consider gifting a roundabout down the hill from at Camp Bowie - University - Montgomery - 7th Street.

She wasn't snubbed at all. She pulled her donation when the economy tanked.

I seem to remember that there was no answer given to her offer, acceptance or rejection, and after a time the offer was rescinded. If the economy had a part in her pulling the offer that is understandable.

From that post which cites a S-T article from 2002 (that's long since gone):

"Last year, local philanthropist Anne W. Marion offered up to $25 million to build a roundabout to serve as a new gateway into the Cultural District. Marion spearheaded establishment of the FPA Foundation to oversee the project.

After months of studies, however, Marion cited tough economic times and withdrew her planned donation - less than a day before the City Council was to pick a design."

Thanks, I apparently remembered the delay in action but not the reason for withdrawal of the offer.

Really caused by ill advised design application. Approaches of streets into circle with curved entries and the pedestrian problem that they cannot control crossing double lanes of traffic with crossing controls and also that blind accessibility is not easily accomplished.

Meeting on the Montgomery street redeisgn tomorrow.

Design elements currently being considered include roadway layout, sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping, water main lines and other parkway improvements.

What a shame the roundabout at CB-U-M-7th Street did not come to fruition.  I still believe that A TRV-like roundabout with public art would make this intersection iconic and more efficient;  instead of moronic, confusing and inefficient.

BTW, what is the latest news regarding the CB-M-L roundabout?

The more I travel the more I like, no, I mean really like, traffic circles.  But I do see where it could present a problem in high pedestrian traffic areas.

So guess this is dead? Montgomery is kind of wrapping up, they reconfigured the UNTHSC side, looks to have narrowed it at the intersection but no signs of roundabout

I don't know if it was ever really alive.

First I've heard of this.  You mean there was a serious plan to transform the most time-consuming intersection in Fort Worth into a roundabout?

It was discussed in 2015 but neighborhood opposition killed it pretty hard.

I remember hearing folks in the community meeting complaining that a roundabout would be difficult for people to navigate in their "pick up trucks with double dually's"
