Water Gardens Place - why did they not paint the north facing ??

Is that Paint? I always thought the "back side" of the building was sort of unfinished, and might have had another building butted up to it at one time, and that when the restoration was done many years back a new facade was created. I looked the building up on the parent website to this forum:

and sure enough it is paint.

The north and south walls originally faced into other buildings. The concrete structure was exposed with brick infill and small windows. Since the old warehouse was converted into office space, and the buildings on both sides had been demolished, the conversion required larger windows. Two new facades were built on those north and south walls out of brown brick. The east and west walls that faced the street were out of buff brick. Those two walls were painted a few months after the building reopened.
