Don't know if this is the right sub-forum, but figured y'all would like to know.

Was talking with a rep from the Neil P. today (they had an open house), and he said that there are plans to renovate Burnett Park again in the not-too-distant future. The way he described it was that they're going to make the park less "formal," and more "residential." What he meant was that apparently, some of the crisscrossing walkways will be removed, and some work done to the layout of trees and such, to make Burnett Park a more suitable place for, as he put it, "taking your dog for a game of fetch." Less of an angular "business" park and more of a laid-back relaxation & recreation type of place.

Personally, I think this is a great idea. I really do love Burnett Park - it's a vastly underrated cozy little spot, and quite lovely - but its current mid-'80s renovation look does give off an air of, well, "formality," for lack of a better word. I think remaking the park to a place where both office workers *and* nearby residents will feel comfy is a great idea, and in a city with precious few bits of downtown green space, I think it's a great move.

As a nearby resident, I think that is a great idea. It is a pleasant space, but lacks a good open space. I like the sculpture and the soothing sound of the water, but would really love to get at least one big open lawn space for frisbee or football throwing.

Good news - I hadn't heard that.

As a nearby office resident, I can't believe they're going to throw any more money at that park. There seems to be an endless supply of renovation and maintenence money for that place. They are always working on the fountain, mowing, raking leaves, but the grass still looks terrible. I guarantee that there is some kind of maintenence going on at least 3 days a week.
