This morning as I was perusing the XTO neighborhood, I see this old corvette on Houston Street. Sunny, 68 degrees, calm winds, Friday. Life is sweet! rolleyes.gif

My work buddy and I took his two girls to a Cats game in July. They were about the nicest kids I have ever been around.

First Pic is the two kids. Enjoying the day. (Or cotton candy high)

Second picture is where his youngest daughter made a friend there in the bleachers. Within 2 minutes she felt the need to show her everything in her purse. I guess because I never had kids, I found this fascinating.

OK. Show her the junk in your purse, that will impress her!

Walking around this evening. Nice mustang! Ain't life grand! Main and Third.

BTW: I see my pictures posted earlier in this thread are disappearing. I had them uploaded to Picoodle. They disappear if they have not been viewed in a year. Bummer. I now use FLICKR obviously. I pay for a pro account as I feel like it is less likely to dump my pictures. Not a sure thing still. I get a photography magazine that had a whole story on a Photo upload house that went out of business. These were photographers that paid big money for their storage. They sent an e-mail to all the customers one day in advance of shutting down stating that people should get their pics and save them somewhere else. I bet you guessed the punchline... with only one day to recover your pictures their server was swamped and locked up.

I guess I should go through my old posts and delete any that have broken link pics.

A couple of Mothers. I speculate. I saw them pointing up high in The Tower. That was the shot I wanted but my draw speed was insufficient.

I am going to guess that they are a couple of woman being celebrated for Mother's day and waiting on their driver to exit the garage. I lost my Mom 6 years ago but can still enjoy other people's Moms. As my wife of 27 years and I never had children, the Mrs. is slaving away in the kitchen whipping up a delicious, yet nutritious, dinner for us. (While I am on my laptop, obviously preparing for work tomorrow. smilewinkgrin.gif )

17-40 4.0L way cropped. (Was yearning for more focal length.)

Happy Mother's day to them. And all.

Not really in the streets, but...

My nieces wedding 3 weeks ago. Reception. As the adults were doing their official dancing stuff on one side, the little girls were on the other side dancing with themselves. (Kids of my nieces and nephews) I liked watching them as they were the only ones that were REALLY having fun. A lot of movement. Had borrowed my old Rebel XSi for these. No flash. Evening sun through the windows.

That guy have an FCC license?

So where does he park when storms roll in? I'm guessing he's aware it doesn't have to be raining or even cloudy to get hit. I'd like to catch that shot, then the after shot, a big green roasted marshmallow at the end of wire coat hanger. rollwink.gif

I threw a ton of that crap away when I moved downtown, one of those antennas looks kind of familiar, nope, my mistake, that's bailing wire.

Let me guess the license plate read "SPARKY"

Looks like the old 102" whip antenna for C.B.'s and Ham Radio operators. Maybe a storm chaser. Somebody had to buy up all that old Radio Shack stuff.

Saw this Ferrari parked by Del Frisco's last night when I was walking around. Now pretending I was rich and pretending I bought foreign cars, how could I enjoy eating a meal wondering how my 250k sports car was fairing parked on the streets? It does look good, no?

I noticed Dallas' own Ninjatune was out and about in Fort Worth recently. I really enjoy his work and I hope he spends more time in Fort Worth.

Always enjoy your pics. Thanks. I love this shot. The streets look vibrant, people-filled, and exciting. (Though, I wish they - whoever "they" are - would fix the snaggle-tooth yellow lights around the buildings - fix 'em or nix 'em.)

Thank you Ramjet

And I could not agree more about the lights. I would be willing to change them myself if they would let me. (I kid not)
In the mean time, the Mayor owed me a favor so I picked up the blower, gave him a ring and gave him an ultimatum.
"Listen here Mayor Moncrief. We are sick and tired of all the lights out in our fair City. You fix this in the next hour or just forget about getting
Re-elected." Bingo, I went back last night and all the lights are fixed. (Proof below)

And if you don't believe that story would you believe that I ran my shot thru Photoshop to fix the lights?

Lights fixed. (If only in my dreams)

If an extra parking space wouldn't cost me 20k, I think I would get a Prowler. I have always loved them. Great value in a fun car. Way different.

3rd street downtown tonight.

My wife's best friend has 3 daughters. One is recently engaged. She asked me practice taking some engagement pictures of her and her fiancé. Downtown. They were not really dressed for the occasion but I felt like I did a pretty good job. Ready for the real shoot next week. I would not bore you with all of these, except as they are all on the streets downtown there may be some interest in them.

BTW this girl is 24 years old. Graduated from the UTA school of Nursing in the top of her class and is now a nurse at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. A really great girl.

Thank you Mike. And I do think photography is the perfect complement for a boring job...

When I was in Public Accounting for 8 years I skydived (Skydove?)... as that was even more boring of a job.

Seems like somebody must have posted a shot of these amazing ads but I can't find it if they did. Have never seen anything like them. Just crazy. 70 stories high.
Wonder about all the details... Cost, materials, application method, frequency of use, horsepower. (Kidding about that horsepower thing)

I think Jerry Jones paid for it all if I heard correctly. (Because that big game is in Arlington) Shot this when I was in Dallas yesterday. Pulled over at a liquor store. Was not a good neighborhood by the looks of things. In fact, it looked so bad I was selecting fast shutter speeds. My wife showed her true colors. She had me locked out of my car though I was just 5 feet away. (She was sitting in it)

Have posted a few pics of this girl in the past. She is a 24 year old RN at a Dallas Hospital. She has lived her entire 24 years in Arlington. (My wife's friends daughter) . Really good girl.

Took a bunch of pictures Sunday. Was kind of a hazy, icky day but that is not all bad when taking people pics. Here are some of my favs. We went to Botanic Gardens and then walked around downtown.

Want to add one more photo to this Easter Photos of this nurse friend of mine from Arlington. (Wife's best friend's daughter.) She did not like this picture and so I left it out of my set. But I like it. Botanic Gardens. (Keep in mind this young lady never made a B all the way through college.) I didn't make many B's. "C's and D's you betcha.

This morning on my walk I spotted this VW Bus in the parking lot just East of The Tower. I thought pretty amazing. Looks to be 100% original. Hubcaps and all. Has Mexican license plates on it and is full of junk. I think it is worth a lot of money being complete. I was wishing I had time to stick around and make the guy an offer for it. It spent the night there apparently.

Not playing in the streets. Playing at the Farm. As you may know, my wifes family has a farm in Arlington. (For 130 years) We went there today for Mothers Day celebrations. While others were eating cake (Never again for me) I was outside hanging around tractors and stuff. Looking up at the 3 silos I wondered what the view would be like from the top. I decide to climb to the top of one. Of course, the only one with a ladder still any good has a tree growing up through the middle. Anyway, not much of a view. I was hoping I could see downtown Fort Worth, but could not. Pretty much a big hill in the way.

Wife took this shot with her i-phone, just after scolding me for being up there.

I have a first cousin that lives in Lake Highlands. He has always been interested in going fast. (unlike myself, interested on in going efficient and safe) He bought a Porsche Cayman S (2011 model bought new in December 2011 after 2012's were out) He has been going to these weekend long driving schools. Went to a few in College Station. Last few, including this weekend, are in Cresson Texas. (Between Fort Worth and Granbury) In the middle of no place.

I went to watch him drive fast today. Was pretty fun. I took all my camera gear but never got my big boy lens out of my car because I did not want everybody there to be eying my $15,000. lens until I was leaving. I wound up leaving earlier than I thought because my cause was going back into the classroom for an hour and I was hot. I did take a handful of good shots with my 70-200mm 2.8L IS.

I've been trying to figure that out as well - I was a block away and heard the CRASH, so didn't see it happen - just ran over for pictures (I know - vulture!), so the best I can guess is that one of them ran a red, and the BMW clipped the back end of the Nissan just enough to get it sideways, which then took it to its roof. The problem with that theory is the apparent absence of damage on the right rear of the Nissan, but it's hard to tell. Just based on the Beemer being perfectly square to the intersection and no 'side-sliding' skid marks, I assume it stopped at point of impact. That's my amateur accident investigator report! :)
