#118064 Interesting Building on Hulen Street

Posted by DKinFW on 30 March 2019 - 01:07 PM

Interesting building going up at the corner of Hulen and Houghton. Just south of Central Market, east side of Hulen. Almost looks like a mini hanger for a blimp. Anyone know anything about this? Just curious.

#97968 One less Barnes and Noble

I was in the new bookstore a few days ago.  They do have a LARGE selection of TCU gear.  Much more than the B&N had.  They also have a coffee bar, but not Starbucks.  There is a general interest section upstairs, but not nearly as large as before and a tiny area for children's books.  Will be interesting to see how or if they evolve based on customers' (non TCU students) reaction.  If enough people come in asking for a Barbara Cartland or a James Fenimore Cooper they might take notice!

#97195 Property at Berry and University Drive (Shell Station) sold

Posted by DKinFW on 04 May 2016 - 12:12 PM

One of my usual stops for gas is now closed.  The Shell station at University and Berry closed yesterday.  I got the news Saturday when I stopped in for gas.  According to what the guy working there told me, Chase Bank bought the property and has plans to put a bank there.  To my way of thinking that space is too small for a bank.  Just look at the B of A across the street to see how much space something like that uses.  Also, there is another Chase bank branch just down University Drive adjacent to the Ole South Pancake House.  I know Starbucks is not opposed to other franchises close by, but Chase Bank?

This is not to say that the Shell guy has the correct information.  Maybe he is wrong.  Does anyone out there have any idea of what is going on?

It may not have historic designation, but it is my understanding that it has a colorful past.
