Was this tire / automotive center part of the department store?

This structure was originally a Texaco gas station back in the '50's and '60's (Maybe into the '70's).  It later became a tire dealer and seemed to do quite well.  The building partially shown to the left in this picture was originally a Fair Department Store.  Later it became an office building.  Just a couple of examples of how the old Westcliff Shopping Center was a vibrant multi-purpose shopping center.  It had almost any store/business you could imagine.   Even its hardware store was the best in the city.

I just discovered the Cowtown Marathon headquarters in the Foundry area recently during a walk around.  Looks like they're (Cowtown Marathon) moving to the Westcliff Shopping Center.  This dates me but I remember my mom taking me there to buy school clothes at the Monnig's in the proposed building.

There was also a great hamburger stand on the North end of the other side of the center- Ernies Hamburgers as well as past mayor- Bolens Bikes on the East side.

Late to the show as always!

I remember the Library's bookmobile stopping in at the south end of the center! Here is a picture to make your memories drool! http://libraryhistor...kmobile-01.html
