The 20th floor is nearly complete, and on the west side, the framing is starting for the 21st floor.  Here is the latest construction photo taken on July 30, 2017.

Yes, I have noticed the broken glass.  During the construction of a building, the breaking of glass is fairly common.

I've noticed how "thin" looking the tower is at some angles of perspective.  Is the breaking of glass during construction accidental or an act of vandalism?

Even though I wasn't there when the glass was broken, it is extremely likely it happened by accident.  The glass was broken next to the construction elevator and in an area where objects are picked up by the crane and taken to the top of the building.  The broken glass is also on the third floor, so I doubt there was any vandalism.  During the course of construction of a building of this size, some glass is going to be hit and broken by some of the materials picked up by the crane.

It looks to me like the most recent floor has surpassed 500 W7th, making Frost among the top 10 tallest buildings in the city. It will pass up 714 Main, AT&T, and the Pier 1 building before settling as the 7th tallest.

The final overall height in feet is scheduled to be 368.  This puts its final height at 12 feet lower than the penthouse roof of the former Landmark Tower.

The columns being poured at the top of the building are on the 22nd Floor.  The building is moving upward.  The curtain wall is being installed on the Skylobby Level (12) and the Conference and Event Center Level (13).  The portion of the curtain wall that hangs down below the 14th Floor has also started erection.  The 14th Floor is a multi-tenant floor.  It won't be long before the building is topped out.

I believe the crane has jumped to it's max height as well. According to an earlier post, it should be around 440 feet.  It appears to be about 40 feet shorter than the 488 ft The Tower.

I have notice in my travels around the southwest side of town that the building is becoming more noticeable.  You have to admit the old Continental National Bank/Landmark Tower did make an impact on the skyline when it was standing.  With the Frost Tower being 12 feet shorter than the penthouse roof of the Landmark Tower, it will be a comparable building.

I was going to go out and take some skyline photos this afternoon, but I'm not sure the weather will clear.

The building can also be seen fairly unobstructed at least the floors above the sky lobby from the intersection of Main and 28th street near the stockyards.

I think it's a good height as a filler building as it will cover up some gaps in the skyline, but man I wish is was double the height. Lol

Guess beggars can't be choosers

From the perspective from our office on Daggett Ave. the new Jetta tower is just starting to peek over the Bank of America Center and blocking more of The Tower as the days go by. If the crane is at max height then I don't think it will have a big impact on the skyline from my daily view of downtown.

The additional floor of apartments on Lipscomb had much more of an impact on my downtown view. It has blocked 95% of the rear view of the T&P Warehouse and all the buildings on the SE side of downtown except for the Omni.

Glass is going up on the East side staircase. It looks a little different, with more "flair" and detailing. Up higher, the first few panes at the office levels have been installed.

Here's a close up on the spandrel glass. If you look close enough, the fade away texture is actually tiny circles getting smaller.

The rebar for all of the columns on the 23rd floor have now been placed and the formwork for the 24th floor slab is now on the western side of the building.  It's moving upward at about one floor per week, and it won't be long before we will see how the elevator overrun, the mechanical penthouse, and roof screening will be built and framed.

Today marks one year of construction at Frost Tower, which broke ground October 21st, 2015.

This building has finally reached street level. Yay!

The tower broke ground October 21st, 2015, one month from now. Almost exactly a year later, it reached ground level. By October 21st 2017, it should be topped out.

Impressive that the excavation & 4 below grade floors took about the same amount of time as 25 floors above ground.

The Frost Tower now has a promotional video on their website.  It features a walk through animation of parts of the building.

I have already been in many of the spaces and on the balconies shown in the animation.

I was downtown this afternoon and I took a couple of photos of the building.  This time, I decided to post a view from the west.  The formwork is in place for the 25th floor slab, and the forms are only put in place on part of the 24th floor.  This view with the sun shining on the west side shows the difference in the glass for the office tower.

I was sitting at the drive through at EECU at 10th and Penn on Thursday and I was admiring the building from that angle.  I think it's going to be a real nice addition to the skyline.

In addition to my weekly jaunt into downtown to take my construction photos, I have meetings at Historic Fort Worth, Inc. (1110 Penn St.) at least two times per month.  I have been watching the building go up from there, as well.  Also remember, that even though there is one more level of office space left, there is still a mechanical level on the roof.  This means that there are really two more floors to go.

Austin, the top of what you see is the beginning of the 25th floor.

Looking good. Now if we can only get rid of that atrocious parking garage in the foreground and put in something that compliments this new tower. <fingers crossed>

Johnfwd, you are correct.  The Frost Tower is taller and appears that way from every angle.

I always thought that the Bank of America parking garage was one of the better garages in town.  That complex was designed for the First National Bank by SOM.

The glass almost appears to be black, definitely very dark, from the angles I have viewed it from (from a distance).  Is this something that will change as more of the glass is added and the interior is built out?

All of the glass on the parking garage portion of the building is spandrel glass.  Since it opaque, it will definitely appear darker.  I'm interested in seeing more of the glass installed on the office portion of the building, so I can get a feel of how that will look.  From our tour of the building when we had a session on the curtain wall, we learned that there are several different types of glass that will be placed on the building.  I think that is already pretty obvious from our photographs and comments.  Also, the installation of the metal screen wall has started on the parking garage along the 6th Street facade.  It is hard to tell how it will finally appear because the metal has a protective wrap on it right now.

The elevator core of the Frost Tower is now at the 25th floor.  The 24th floor is nearly completely framed.  I was downtown late yesterday afternoon, so the shot is more of an evening appearance.  Here is how the tower looked from the east.

Well, I was back downtown today to take more photos of the Frost Tower.  Construction is moving along and on the west side of the building, the forms are in place to pour the main roof deck on top of the 25th floor.  The rebar for the columns has been placed on the east side of the 25th floor.  On the south side, more of the garage screening has been installed and some of the protective film has been removed.  Those will be the darker louvers.  The first photo I'm posting is the overall view of the building from the east side.  It's taken from Houston Street so that the columns will show up and to keep the camera from pointing directly at the sun.  The second photo is of the 6th Street Parking Garage facade.

The later renderings show the snowflake logo at the top of the building.  However, I don't remember if that was approved by the DDRB initially, or they stated they would come back with a signage package for later approval.  I have also heard that the snowflake was going to be done in a glass pattern on the curtain wall system, similar to what I did on a Frost Bank Drive-thru Facility in Houston.  I was the project architect for the building near the Galleria.  If it is a part of the curtain wall, then it might have been approved with the building design.

Jeriat, there are no laws or ordinances on the books right now that outlaw signs or logos on the tops of buildings.  However, there will probably be opposition to any that are proposed.

One of the more interesting angles, from Burnett Park. 3 era's of Fort Worth skyscaper, 1930, 1961, and 2019.

From the Methodist Parking lot. Notably bigger than 500 W 7th, but notably smaller than The Tower. It's a big building, despite not being a huge one.

Nice angles, Austin.  I see that all of the form work for the roof deck has been put in place.  It also appears that the 25th floor is taller than the others.

I was walking by the building yesterday around noon and noticed the work crew was having what appeared to be a lunch party on the inside first floor.  I'm guessing it was a party to celebrate the "topping out."

I like the building more and more.  I can see the outline of this building all the way from the Southwest Boulevard bridge at Vickery.  A peculiar observation about height:  The Frost Tower has 25 floors while an old building just to its south has about 19 floors.  Yet, the two structures appear to the eye to be level with one another at their tops.  Is this an illusion?  Or is the Frost Tower situated on a lower-gradient landscape than the older building (or vice versa, the old building is on a higher-gradient landscape than Frost Tower)?  Obviously a trivia question, but what the heck!

johnfwd, Your perspective probably has a lot to do with it. Some of it could be different plate heights (height from floor to floor). Frost could also be including the below grade levels.

I took pictures of the construction this last weekend with PeopleAreStrange, and I can't believe that I got so busy that I forgot to post them.  I will get those up tonight.

There are a couple of things to note from the Star-Telegram's photos.  It appears those photos were taken yesterday afternoon.  The parapet wall for the main roof is also being formed up right now on the west side of the building.  In the center of the roof level are some of the rebar for a column that will be going up on the 26th level of the building.  I was downtown at Historic Fort Worth at lunch and I noticed that the parapet forms were showing from Penn Street.  I also saw three columns on the top of the building and now those columns have forms around them.

Johnfwd, which 19 story old building to the south appears approximately the same height?  When I was taking some skyline shots over the last few weekends, I thought that the Frost Tower appeared to be taller than any of our existing buildings, except for the ones that are more than 30 stories and 400 feet.  As for the answer, Pelligrini has a good one, the varying heights of the buildings depend on the floor plate height of the individual building.  Frost is 25 stories above the street level, so they are not counting the basement levels as floors above grade.  However, the parking garage levels run around 9'-6" from floor to floor.  I think the office levels are at least 14 feet from floor to floor.  Also, some buildings list only occupied floors, not the total number of floors in the building.  I'm thinking your 19 story building is the Bank of America Building, or 500 West 7th.  If you count the number of visible floors in the building, you will see that there are actually 21.  There are two mechanical floors on top that take up the full floor.  This will also add height to a building because they are not counted in the floor number, but are counted in the overall height.  I'm sure we can provide more details later, if we have more information.

I did post last weekend's construction photograph on Fortwortharchitecture.com's Facebook page.  Here's the link:  https://www.facebook...thArchitecture/

I believe I am referring to the 18-story brown-brick building at the northeast corner of Lamar and 7th Street.  When I line the two buildings up at a vantage point farther south on Lamar it appears that they are on a level plane at their tops.  I suppose this is more an optical ilusion, but the point made about floor-to-height differences is well taken.

Your viewing is an optical illusion. The building that you are referring is the Historic Electric Building. It is 229 feet tall. Bank of America, or 500 W. 7th, is 273 feet in height. I took a picture from Penn Street on my cell at lunch and Frost is taller than Bank of America. I will post the picture when I get home.
