Our first house was just south of Sycamore School Road (on Parkwood Lane which is behind the Lutheran church, which wasn't there at the time; neither was the hardware store); we used to walk over to French Lake with the boys when they were little.

I can tell you from experience that coyotes are freaking people out on Nextdoor in every area of the world.

Haha, yes I think there are about 4 of them and they do get lots of Nextdoor attention. We see them all the time.

The most interesting rumor Ive heard is that the coyotes have taken up residence in an abandoned house over by French Lake. No idea if thats true or not, but I know where the house is. We call it The coyotes house now 😂

Seems like any undeveloped land that opens up in Fort Worth is an invitation for more multi-family residential--the vast area bordering CTP being no exception.  Fort Worth is becoming the multi-family capital of Texas.

Austin is dominating the state in multifamily right now, Fort Worth is last among the largest Texas cities. Fort Worth is #1 for single family, and I think it's #1 in the entire country too.

The multifamily portion of Primrose Station, right by Columbus Trail, appears to be underway. I wasn't able to stop and take a picture, but a lot of dirt turning.

Yeah not super inspiring, but maybe we'll get a good bar or coffee shop out of it *fingers crossed*

 

I also really hope that as more retail pops up there, a good grocery store will follow. But I'm afraid McPherson and CTP is going to get all of the good stuff.

I went to Costco yesterday before picking up dinner Gyro & Kabob Grill (McCart, south of Sycamore School Rd).  We used to get food there a lot when we lived down the block from there before we moved.  Decided to take CTP to Sycamore School and truth be told I started wondering if I took the wrong exit.  That strip immediately east of CTP has built up a LOT.  It was disorienting until I got up to Trail Lake... then things looked familiar.

It's still the suburbs and I'm not surprised... but I was expecting something else.

It's a higher end concept from Dollar General that's very similar to Five and Below.

The Dallas Business Journal had several reports about a 300-townhome development on 33 acres between Granbury Road and CTP. Crowley ISD is the seller - I guess it no longer needs the property for future schools.

I'm shocked since Google Earth ruler tool says its almost exactly 5 miles from the City View one on Bryant Irvin. Then again the Alta Mere store is also almost exactly 5 miles away, if you draw a circle with the ruler tool it goes through its parking lot. From City View, the Montgomery Plaza store is a bit further at 6.3 miles, but its distance from Alta Mere is also just shy of 5 miles. Burleson's store is 6.96 miles, so further but still kind of roughly that distance.

 

Wonder how much of this is a coincidence.

 

Also, unrelated, it was probably posted somewhere else but 5341 McPherson is supposed to be the 2nd location of that CosMc's McDonald's spin-off fast food chain.

I wonder who/what owns all that land west of the railroad tracks by the lake?

 

My fantasy would be there would more parkland around the eastern shores of Benbrook Lake. The Corps of Engineers owns everything a certain radius from the established max fill shoreline, but this land isn't quite wide enough for them to bring things like trails or beaches into the area. I think if the city or county or COE could do a "pincher maneuver" and obtain some of the fingers of privately owned land between the shores and creek beds around the lake so there'd be a satisfactory sized amount of parkland by the water.

 

The other question is the long term future of the railroad grade crossing at Columbus Trail/Sycamore School and Old Granbury Road. If they punched Bryant Irvin all the way through there, not only would it help create alternate routes to these new commercial areas with the new Target store, etc that would reduce traffic congestion on other roads, it would also create a suitable public entrance to a future park unit on the east side of the lake, without having to snake car traffic through future (upscale, whiny people) neighborhoods. Just a thought.

In the City's Master Thoroughfare Plan, Bryant Irvin is supposed to stay west of the railroad tracks and end at St. Francis Village Rd./McPherson Blvd.  Columbus Trail/Sycamore School Rd. is supposed to be extended to Bryant Irvin, and will terminate there.  It wouldn't surprise me if the grade crossing with the railroad will be eliminated with a bridge.
