I've been to one in Dallas and it is VERY good. I normally don't eat at pizza places, but I was dragged to the Dallas design district location and it was outstanding and very unique pizza offerings that they bring to the table in slices. I look forward to the FW location and hope it does well.

I guess Nashville Hot Chicken is the new trend... just like Bagel shops, then cupcake stores and then Taco joints. Wonder how long this fad will last.

The Twitter feed Fort Worth Development (does someone on the Forum run it?) reports that the former Pollo Tropical, next to Razzoo's on Bryant Irvin, will become Hawaiian Bros. Island Grill. https://hawaiianbros.com/menu/

Hawaiian Bros. is hiring for the Bryant Irvin location, so I guess they'll open soon. https://harri.com/HB017

Crossposted from the Comings and Goings thread:
Dave's Hot Chicken from Los Angeles is coming to two Fort Worth locations, according to information provided to Bud Kennedy. First location will be in the old Schlotsky’s on Bryant Irvin (Cityview), same building as Outback. Construction has been working for about 2 months. Another is planned for across the street from Zoli’s Pizza on Hulen. This is from someone named Jeff Murray who knows one of the investors.

Fort Worth has gotta be pushing for most hot-chicken places per capita right?
1.5 mi from this location near zoli's another hot chicken joint called "Helen's" will replace the short lived John Smith sub shop at 2812 Horne St., on the corner at Camp Bowie Boulevard and Lccke Avenue.

and let's not forget The Cookshack on University less than 3mi away too.

I was going to mention "More Hot Chicken" when I heard the news but I thought that I would leave well enough alone. LOL

Can't leave out Red Claws Hot Chicken and Smackbird, both within a half-mile of Hulen Mall.

Okay. You're a fan, aren't you?
I'm surprised they tore the old building down, unless there were problems with it.
I was begging for a much closer Pluckers for years. Hell yeah, I'm a fan! I hate having to drive all the way to Alliance, Oklahoma just to get to one in our city... even though, ironically, I work up here, now, so it's much closer anyway.
As far as the building, my only guess is that they just didn't view the building to fit their interior standard? Could have had some other issues, but that's the only thing I can think of.

Corrugated sheet metal panels and bare concrete floors? (just kidding) The two Pluckers I've visited (Highlands Arlington and Grapevine) their restaurants tend to have high ceilings. I think some of that could be for better ventilation, acoustics or just general feel of the space. They also do some cool things with these glass overhead doors which is a nice touch this time of year.

Admittedly, I'll miss that place, but I'll take Pluckers any day.
The only "rough looking" Pluckers I've been to was the one in Arlington.

As for gutting and remodeling vs. demolition, sometimes it depends on the client's actual needs for that space. I was not involved on the Plucker's decision, so I can't say for sure. I also know that some of those buildings over there in that area had structural problems, so that might have been a factor.

Really?
Most of that area is still fairly new (although, I can remember that Razzoo's being there as far back as '95) so I wouldn't even think that would be an issue.

Joe's Crab Shack/Twin Peaks, which was built a little before Fuddrucker's, had many issues. I believe the building was starting to sink into the pond.

Yes, that retention pond is hell. They had to reconstruct a large portion of the parking lot for Costco because it was sliding into the pond. I wouldn't be surprised if that whole area is not very stable. Looking at old aerials and topos on HistoricAerials.com, it looks like that whole area at least as far as the Fudruckers was filled to bring it to somewhat level with the area where the Home2 Suites is. If you look at the west end of the Costco parking lot, the Fairfield Inn and Twin Peaks, they're all built on fill, and I think even the Fudruckers was.

Lola's Cuban Food, a food truck near downtown, is opening a brick and mortar location in Cityview Centre. Suite 440, which was previously Rufus Bar and Grill. https://www.facebook.../LolasCubanFood
That's funny, I saw this permit they filed for 118 N. Henderson a couple weeks ago. Do you think this is just their food truck or are they also moving in there too?

Makes sense. Floor & Decor is basically a warehouse store and people come in get their stuff and leave. I would say if they rarely have more than 10 customers in the store, so that sea of Mervyn's parking around it is pretty much unnecessary.

I'm surprised more of those lots haven't been replaced, yet.
