Hehe, I figured I would find the "original" on here. Just read the news blurb on the Star-Telegram's website and saw the picture. Great shot as always!

As any Ranger fan knows, the fall normally comes after the all-star break. A split with the New York Turkees, and a win to start the series against the Red Sox in August is nothing to ignore. I want to believe that this could be a turning point. Greenburg & Nolan are in charge, the next most recognizable investors are local, the fans have stuck it out all season. We may not see the series this season, but things are looking up. The dim bulb era of Hicks-ball is over! If the Marlins and Rays can make a run, so can our Rangers! It truly may be "Time".

The reality is that Tarrant County has a lot of transportation issues that need to be addressed. Everyone has their personal favorite to champion. What really needs to happen is people stop looking at these situations in such a short-term and geographically narrow view.
Tower 55 / Downtown lines - yes this needs to be addressed - BUT the railroads need to step up and be accountable for their part of the problem & solution
Streetcar / Light Rail - Over the long run, how many vehicles could be parked if a combination of streetcars and light rail were available. What additional uses could they server beyond daily business commuter traffic.
Tarrant County is very suburbanite, as a county there are dozens (if not more) of little fifedoms where "not in my backyard" and "what good does it do me" is the status quo. We need to move past that, and see ourselves as a community in a much larger perspective.
Personally, living in Crowley I would love the option of taking a light rail to the ITC and then transfer to a streetcar system to either the stockyards, cultural district, or even just to the heart of downtown. Yes, we have a walkable CBD, but do you really want to walk from the ITC or one of the parking lots on that east side of downtown on a 100+ degree day? How much money are the operators of those surface lots making on a daily basis? Need some funding for improvements.. start there. Those lots charge $3 and up for parking, even more when there is an event at the convention center. It's not like the county hasn't used eminent domain before. Eventually maybe it could be considered to build a garage over some of the lots to compact the overall land used. Which hopefully would allow some additional business development on that end of town. We have a pretty good Convention and Visitors Bureau, why not suggest a park downtown, ride to the museums, and come back for dinner. The streetcars, over time, could make downtown a centralized hub of activity and tourism. If there was a line that run to the stockyards, how might that help North Main traffic on a Saturday night?
Again, it needs to be the BIG picture that we look at. Feasibility, Cost, Long Term
Just my opinion and See ya' down the road!
