Same here. It's about time they do more for those who sacrifice the most. Count me in.

Will there be a RAPTOR fly over???

I wonder if they will release two huge nets of grackels after the God Bless America song? You know like when most stadiums release the white doves.

Look forward to seeing the game and playing another game that is sweeping the nation, "Name That UTAH Football Player and the Island he Came From!"

California Golden Bears vs. Air Force Falcons at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, in the newly expanded Amon G. Carter Stadium.  An event we can all be proud of in Fort Worth!

Not to split hairs, but was it really in the "newly expanded" stadium when this is the 4th Armed Forces Bowl since the renovation was complete? :)

The game didn't disappoint: a cool pre game flyover and a monster performance from Cal's QB. A sharp contrast to the popcorn fart finish that Boykin gave to the Frogs season the other night.

Rick Mauch has an excellent article in FWBP on the 17th Anniversary of this Fort Worth-hosted bowl game.

The Armed Forces Bowl is still happening this season. Noon on New Year's Eve.

The Metroplex is also hosting the Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium, the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl, and the First Responder Bowl at SMU's stadium.

Still don't understand why Frisco gets a bowl game...

They have a stadium and a sponsor that pays for it. Why wouldnt they get one?

Because they already have the FCS National Championship game.

That won't be happening this year, of course, but still it seems like overkill.

Again, they have a sponsor that wants to host a D-1 bowl game. What does the FCS game have to do with that?

Im not sure I would use the word Mecca, but Frisco is a player. How Arlington didnt figure out a way to get the Star built next to the stadium is baffling. That is a top notch facility. Dr. Pepper Ballpark is great, but from a visit this summer, I would say it needs a fresh coat of paint.

Since we're using Mavs as an analogy (which I hate as a Spurs fan) I would say Dallas is Dirk. Arlington is Luka. Frisco is Porzingis. Fort Worth is J.J. Barea  :swg:

The writer of the espn.com article on the College Final Playoff semifinal game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington got the location right in the first paragraph.  Then, apparently, the writer decided that Arlington is located in Dallas.  My excerpted passage below.  Go figure...

It hasn't been determined if the CFP semifinal in Dallas will be called the CFP Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Capital One...

The Metroplex is getting a fifth bowl game, at least for this season:
https://theathletic....s/fF5fqbFhOhXE/

Where do you predict it will be played? The others are Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium, Armed Forces Bowl at TCU, First Responders Bowl at SMU, Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium.

The obvious choice would be Choctaw Stadium (the Old Ballpark in Arlington) or maybe even the new Globe Life Field since they inexplicably host football games as well. They could call it the "Arlington Bowl" or the "Metroplex Bowl" or the "Globe Life Bowl".

I just find it funny how it's easier to add more bowl games for these 6 win teams, but it's just oh so difficult to expand a 4 team playoff . . . but that's another topic for another day.

How about calling it the "NCAA Football Oversight Committee Bowl?"

I'm betting on one of the Arlington stadiums getting the game.  Could go to Apogee or Ford or even the Star if they wanted to make it look like a not so empty stadium.

5 6-6 teams from the SEC that went a combined 14-26 against their own conference getting into a bowl game is beyond ridiculous.

That's just a quick bus ride for UNT.

For a program with very minimal Bowl experience, I'm sure they're not complaining, but I'd want to at least go to a Bowl that's much further than a county line away.

This is their 5th bowl appearance in 6 years under Seth Littrell.  I wouldn't call that minimal.

Fair enough, but I was talking about the program's history overall.

This will be their 13th appearance in one, TCU has lost more bowl games than that and the Frogs aren't exactly the flagship program in the state.

UNT also spent 20 years as either an independent or in D-2.  TCU got a 17 year head start on UNT and benefited from 70+ years of being in the equivalent of a present day power 5 conference.   UNT's bowl presence prior to 2001 is not at TCU's level, but it's a little of an apples-oranges comparison.  UNT never had a chance at bowl appearances prior to this century's explosion in number of games.
