I had driven around on I20 for years, and finally stopped into downtown for the first time just last year. The Wooten is a beautiful building. The Windsor is pretty neat too, and really makes the place feel big. The largest buildings there feel very well taken care of. The area around the train station was really lively in my one stop, lots of people hanging out. A lot of the town felt clean and well preserved. Quite a few storefronts had been gutted and were being used as parking though. They also had a really cool park which was like a really tiny water gardens.

I took a "before" shot of the last shot with the mural from the same spot just about,

I hope they go through with the Festival District! Lots of potential in that town.

Saw this posted by Linbeck on a new project...I'm a little confused on the timeline, I thought this project was underway but behind schedule, maybe this is a new phase or they're taking over the rest of the project?

GROUNDBREAKING EVENT: Abilene Heritage Square, Abilene, Texas

What’s old is new again! Linbeck is thrilled to join Abilene Heritage Square as they transform the historic Abilene High School and Lincoln Middle School buildings into an eight-acre community hub.

The major revitalization effort, designed by Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford, will breathe new life into the 1920s-era campus through a modern library, interactive science space, and refreshed campus green. At the heart of Abilene Heritage Square, the schools’ historic auditorium and gymnasium will be transformed into event spaces equipped for performances, educational programming, and other special occasions.

Linbeck is excited to be a part of Abilene’s groundbreaking preservation project, where the stories of the city’s past will soon mingle with its future!
