Bernie was on his way to the meeting when he bottomed his car out on a pothole and cracked the oil pan. 
The meeting started at 7 pm. My wife left work a bit late and got there at 7:25 pm and it was already over. Apparently each candidate got to speak for a few minutes but there were no questions allowed.

Margot Garza and Ann Zedah visited our last neighborhood association meeting in Shaw-Clarke, a month ago. Their willingness to speak to our very small group was appreciated. Zedah seemed to have a preservation bent, which I appreciate. Garza mentioned that the more vocal your NA is, the more concessions you get from the city, and she emphasized cooperation between South Side area NAs, for the benefit of the whole South Side.
I would have loved to hear from Bernie Scheffler. I bought a bike from him way back in the Panter City Bicycles days. I know he is a bike/mass transit advocate and I would have liked to hear his ideas.
Does it make me a complete nerd to be excited about the District 9 election? Yes. Do I care? No. 
I am looking forward to the district moving onward and upward.
