As some "food for thought", here is the personal wealth, income and debt reported by the leading candidates for 2012 Race for U.S. Senate – Texas. Not all chose to report fully. For instance, the salary for Texas Lt. Governor is $7,200. By the way, though not running for Senate but rather a higher office, the salary paid to Governor "Oops" Perry is $150,000 – the 12th highest salary paid among all governors.

Betsy Devos, Secretary of Education is a member of the 88th wealthiest family in the U.S. with an estimated net worth of $5.4 Billion listed by Forbes in 2016.

 

Madame Secretary Devos is protected by a personal security force that costs the taxpayers $19 million per year.
