When I read this FWBP article about City Council action to ban smoking in bars and bingo parlors my reaction was, yes, "ho hum."  This would have been a controversial decision 20 years ago, maybe even 5 years ago.  But the anti-smoking movement has changed our culture, health-wise for the better, such that this is no longer news.

Smoking is still allowed in outdoor dining areas and patios

Smoking has not disappeared from the culture altogether, and there is a significant portion of the younger generation that grew up in the "anti-smoking age" that don't understand or believe the consequences.

That is sadly true, particularly with the recent e-cigarette fad.  I'm not a health expert, but I suspect vaping is just as lethal to your lungs as smoking regular cigarettes.

I think you're probably right on that. I was amazed at how many people I saw at work pick up the vaping habit that had never smoked or had not smoked in years.

Certainly - when the Forum discussed a proposal to ban smoking in 2007, there was much disagreement. http://www.fortworth...?showtopic=2116
