Thought I would start a new thread on the new jail. The old thread we were using was titled Jail? Now that it is pretty much finished, it seems like a sure thing.

A very nice jail indeed. Was the deal to be downtown. I supposed to save the County a lot of money transporting prisoners back and forth to downtown.

I took these shots last night. I have not heard anything about a grand opening. Maybe they do not do grand openings for maximum security jails. I am curious then they will load the first bad guy.

Sure enough is a beautiful building. Very much fits in with its surroundings. Does indeed look like a court building rather than a jail.

Great shots - I especially like the second one (is that an ambulance at the door already???)

Thanks Ron.

Yes, an ambulance for the old jail on the East side of street. As I see that area from my condo windows I can tell you there is an ambulance there have the time picking somebody up. Prisoners. A population more likely to both need and abuse the medical system. (Fighting, bad livers, hepatitis and all the other medical maladies that come from wanting to always do the wrong thing.) It is a get out of jail card. Personally, I would be OK with "No free medical care while you are actually incarcerated" policy.

Agree, good shots. On may way to the main jail on occasion, I have mistaken this building as my destination (both look the same). Now when the civil courts building is completed, both ends of Weatherford on the north side of downtown will be "anchored", so to speak.

I am very excited about the new Courts building under construction. Not sure it isn't going to be spectacular.

We surely are turning Weatherford/Belknap into legal row. But I'm sure it does make sense to keep it together.

Glad to see if fits in with the other buildings. I was in downtown last week and sorry to say I still do not like the modern look of the TCC buildings. Just does not seem to fit in with downtown.

If you mean the TCC buildings at Commerce, I'm with you there! Oversized WW2 German machine gun bunkers is what they look like to me...

I still think the whole complex is spectacular. And I think it will fit downtown a bit better when the modern new court building is finished. (Both projects being too expensive, yes.)

Took this shot Saturday from the "Over the Edge Event"

They had their grand opening yesterday. Glad to see it is under-budget. (I could have housed these bad guys for a tenth the price for sure.)
It is a great addition to Downtown. Hard to believe I can say that about a maximum security jail.

I should add that I was very skeptical about having another jail in downtown, but the final product is a much nicer fit than I expected. Good job considering its purpose.

Keep Fort Worth folksy
