I was going back and looking at the poll for local TV news and noticed that the results were close to the local TV ratings for the newscasts. So, I began wondering if our local viewing habits followed the national ratings for the broadcast networks. This poll does not survey any cable networks, I'm just looking for how much we watch the local stations that carry network programming.

Most of my programming comes from cable/SAT (about 80%).

Probably 95% of my local station viewing is centered around NBA, NFL, Tennis and college sports (football, basketball and track).

I'm not interested in the 5, 6, and 10 PM broadcasts of the :( dallas metro  stations.

Have a "cousin" with CBS, so there is my only reason. Very good Pope/Vatican City coverage. A close friend was w/ NBC when they kept getting MAD Neilsen Ratings. That person has since then left and NBC has dipped DRAMATICALLY.

Sometimes I'd rather not watch the news and just leave it up to the forum to keep me informed. I pretty much hear about all the other stuff like killings and kidnappings from my relatives.

I think we may be related. But I still watch Fox sometimes just to see if I can catch a glimpse of Aunt Agnes being hauled back down to Huntsville again, or Cousin Cletus (the "quiet one") on his way back to Mexia.
