I'm not really into sports, but does anyone know if the FW Bowl will happen again this year? Last year around this time, there was so much hype about it. I guess because TCU was going to be in it. There was talk about making it an annual event. Anyways, I figured somebody here would of said something about it by now. Everything about FW in the media is always great news to post and someone on this board is quick to point it out usually. Anyway, I look forward to seeing it on ESPN if it happens. *fingers crossed*

With its loss yesterday TCU will not be eligible for any bowl appearance this year. The television was on in the house and I caught that as I was passing through. The announcer also mentioned the Fort Worth Bowl.

The Fort Worth Bowl will most likely feature a Big 12-Conference USA matchup. Bowl eligible teams in the Big 12 are OU, UT, A&M, Tech, OK State, Colorado, and Iowa State. Bowl eligible teams in C-USA are Louisville, Memphis, UAB, S. Miss., and Cincinnati.
The winner of next week's Big 12 championship between OU and Colorado will go to a BCS bowl. The Cotton Bowl will host the second place teams of the Big 12 and SEC, most likely UT and Tennessee unless Colorado and Tennessee manage spactacular upsets in their respective conference championships.
In C-USA, Louisville is the conference champion and as such will play Dec. 31 in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis against a Mountain West opponent. Neither TCU nor Houston is bowl eligible.
North Texas won the Sun Belt Conference with an undefeated conference record and will play Dec. 14 in the Wyndham New Orleans bowl against a C-USA opponent.
UTEP finished second place in the WAC behind undefeated Boise State, and will play Dec. 29 in the EVI.net Houston Bowl against a Big 12 opponent.
Baylor, Rice, and SMU are also not bowl eligible this year.
The bowl picture should fall into place after next week's conference championships.

Cincinnati has accepted a bid to the Fort Worth Bowl. The FW Bowl has an eighth-place bid for Big 12 schools, but only 7 qualify for bowl games. The bowl committee is negotiating with at large teams from other conferences.

It's a decent matchup. I plan on attending.
I hope the Bowl raises it profile when it aligns with the MWC.

The Longhorns squeezed their way into a BCS bowl by passing California in the BCS polls. California wasn't helped by their winning, yet lackluster performance this past weekend against Southern Miss. who will be N. Texas' bowl opponent.

Since joining I-A, the Big Boys, Marshall has been to bowl games every year except last year despite last year's 8-4 overall record which made them certainly bowl eligible.
Marshall University also has the unfortunate distinction of being involved in the nation's most fatal sports tragedy. In 1970, after losing a game to East Carolina in Greenville, NC, a charter plane carrying most of the school's football team and coaching staff crashed killing all 75 on board including 37 players, 12 coaches and staff, 5 crewmembers, and 21 prominent local boosters. 70 minor children in Huntington lost parents that day, including 18 who were completely orpaned by losing both parents in the crash.
