hofmannpm@hotmail.com[I took a lot of pictures of the rooms and spaces inside of the westbrook hotel when it was empty and pretty derelict in 1976/77(including one of the lobby filled with old bedsteads). it looks pretty sad but was very atmospheric and was a great place to take my art students from TCU for a drawing class. I cant remember or find one of a mural but there was so much junk and so liitle light it may have been there someplace.the picture of the lobby is poor as the light was so bad but will be happy to forward it to you if its of interest
The Westbrook Hotel had a significant mural painted somewhere in the lobby during the 20s or 30s. The artist was Wallace Simpson (1880-1956) who was known for cattle scenes actually witnessed as he worked on legendary Texas ranches.. A restoration was begun in the 60s. I cannot find any photos, so I was curious if anyone remembers seeing the mural.
