About Me
Married for 33 years, 3 great kids - all grown - a son living in Lewisville and working for a 'local Dallas airline', a daughter in Lake Worth and in her last year of studies to be a high school math teacher, and a son in Taiwan on a scholarship at NTU to finish his PhD in Physics.
We have a house in Haslet, but love DTFW, so plan to visit as often as possible!
In my spare time, I play and record my own music - about 80 pieces in the past couple years - half covers and half originals. I've got a current accumulation of 11 guitars and a bass, as well as a digital piano and the dreaded drum machine (actually quite surprised and happy with the sound and quality!).
Another obsession of mine is photography, which I share from time to time!

Local Car Shows

I thought I'd create a place to post the inevitable photos I will take at the upcoming Cowtown Cruise for a Cure - this Saturday, September 15 from 10 to 3 in Sundance Square. No admission charge for spectators, $35 for the hot rodders to register.
Geometry
17 April 2012 - 09:05 AM
Inspired/reminded/prompted by Bruce's soon-to-be-legendary parking garage photo, I've assembled a series of pictures which are not necessarily meant to be of anything in particular - just interesting shapes and lines.
The Flatiron if it were more flat
Burnett if it were a chimney (or a bookend?)
Arches in downtown Riverside, CA
Vancouver, BC, near the Harbor Control Tower
Carnival cruise ship "Fantasy" headed to Cozumel
Beautiful architectural lines and detail in Philadelphia
Support arch at Jerry-World
Royal Carribean "Monarch of the Seas" on the way to Nassau

Flight Time!
12 April 2012 - 11:57 AM
My apologies in advance for the following blatant advertisement for a certain Dallas-based airline for whom my son works, and from whom we, as parents, get unlimited free (albeit standby) flights! These are various shots from our many journeys made possible by the hard work of our son!
The day begins with the obligatory "push-back"
The sun is just beginning to peek over the horizon
Home is never far away...
Although this is actually another sunrise, for our purposes, we'll call it a sunset and the end of the show!

Victorian Homes

Although I have still not tracked down the Victorians in FW, I stumbled upon a neighborhood full of 'em in Galveston last weekend! Some of them need a little TLC, but what beautiful houses!
It's all in the details

One of the things I enjoy about the buildings around town are the little details - easily overlooked, but lasting evidence of the long-ago craftsmanship some of the buildings were constructed with. Several examples!
From the main Post Office on Lancaster
Kind of creepy
From the top of the P.O. columns, I've posted one of these before, but found one without the brass stains
The old and the new
Light fixture outside the Masonic Temple at Henderson and Lancaster
Fire Station 2 on Texas Street - signs of Art Deco!
The original Fort Worth fire bell - purchased in 1882 for the volunteer FD, used by the regular FD starting in 1893, and retired in 1912 when the automatic system was installed
