From the Web site:

The History Of Billy Bob's Texas

The Building now known as Billy Bob's Texas was built in 1910 and was once a large open-air barn for housing prize cattle during the Fort Worth Stock Show.

In 1936, as a Texas Centennial Project, the building was enclosed by the City of Fort Worth at a cost of $183,500 and the tower added. The "new" structure contained 1257 animal stalls, and a 1200 seat auction ring that is now Billy Bob's Bull Riding arena.

The floor of Billy Bob's slopes from the entry toward the showroom stage, making an ideal elevation for concert seating.

This slope was originally constructed to allow easy cleaning and runoff from the cattle pens.

In about 1970 it was a Cook's department store, kind of a big discount house like Walmart or Kmart.

Clarks became Cooks, I don't know if they were bought out or it was just a name change. How do I collect my burger?
Thanks

Would that be the same Clark's that was on Camp Bowie, later became Crystal's Pizza and is now Steinmart? I remember when we first moved up here in '67 that it was (or seemed like) a huge place. I guess I never knew there was more than one. Crystal's was way cool, too; ah the memories.

I think that was the same chain that was over on Camp Bowie.

Anyone remember the old, same era as Clark's, Atlantic Mills Discount DS. The one I recall was at intersection wwhere Beach runs into Mitchell, just below Holy Name Church. Now a Tandy repair facility or the likes.

I'm surprised there hasn't been much talk of the drama going on at BB's currently.

Evidently a shareholder's suit against the CEO of the corporation.  Yes, it can get complicated...and messy!

It was discussed briefly in the Stockyards thread several weeks ago:

http://www.fortworth...c=5614&p=103270

I still say this is one of those issues where millions of dollars are at stake and cooler heads should prevail, but most involved seem prepared to throw away (far from perfect, but the results of a lot of hard work by a lot of people) development plans and their ownership in Billy Bob's over hurt feelings.
