#138154 The quarantine thread

Posted by 360texas on 23 February 2022 - 09:06 AM

Concept is workable even for me.  Like most all air filters its designed to remove particulates from the air.  I change out our HVAC filter about every 3 months... or when ever my thermostat reports a filter change.  Possibly the filter box would have to be rebuilt or replaced every 3 or so months?

A steel or aluminum frame could replace the cardboard panel framework to accommodate just replacing the filters instead of the whole duct taped fan/filter box.  Or did I miss something?

#137495 city water and street projects

Posted by 360texas on 28 January 2022 - 01:57 PM

A few years ago when they did the new water line, storm water etc they excavated placed the lines, backfilled up to the road sub base.  Compacted using several passes with vibropack roller. Then they went in with a grader and wind row the base material.  Followed by something new.... lime stabilization equipment water tanker and a lime distribution equipment.  With the grader, they mixed the lime into the base material.  Then again with the roller to finish the base before placing asphalt.  Purpose of the lime is the stabilize the clay into non expansive base material.  And yes I watched the lab tech do nuclear compaction tests.  Lab tech told me that he was getting 99.9% compaction results.  That is 99.9% compaction compared to original 100% ground.  Then they placed the asphalt.  SO that means our finished street should be good for 50 years LOLLLL.  They were here for a month or so.

<Thinking out loud >

If you want to encourage them to relocate to the Fort Worth area... the city has to create a NEED for companies to relocate here.

Find out what the companies need .... and satisfy their need.

The general public are like adolescents .... tell them to do something... and they will reject your suggestion and most of them will do the opposite and they WILL wear masks.

Personally, My wife and I will keep wearing masks until everyone stops dying.  Just a passing thought about this topic.

Mayor Price served the city longer than any other mayor.  The one thing that I really liked about her was that she was very personable and was a great ambassador for our city.  As all of you know, I have two main civic causes.  One is to make this city more bicycle friendly and the other is historic preservation

One reason we voted for her was that she had very strong Fort Worth's Budget and financial background.  That means while in office she kept her eye on the Fort Worth spending.  Money people stay around for a long time.

We have had fiber all the way into home and directly connected to home router for a year.  We live in Fort Worth Wedgwood area outside the South side loop.

For a long while we were running 800 - 900 mbps UP/Down.  Seems ATT is doing balancing adjustments - today at 10:57am we are running 920.08 Down and only 186.02 mbps UP.

Yes, for our first time we purchased and had delivered  a couple weeks of food from Krogers on McCart.  Took 3 days for it to be delivered.  Think next time we will order online then do Store Pickup.

For activities we walk around the residential block at least 1 time each time.  Walk around the back yard couple times a day.  Backyard was designed and landscaped pathway in a circle.  So you end up where you started.

Yes, we are staying sane while still walking in circles.

Stay home - Stay safe.

Crane removal ?

Yes, If the photo was to be used in paid advertising.

No, If the photo's original intent is to record of how street view is seen today. The crane represents "Progress" or human activity.

Sometimes I do photoshop out street litter like beer cans and paper.  OR I go collect the litter then take the photo.

Fact checking.

IF the Announcer is in Fort Worth..... say Fort Worth

IF the game is in Arlington Texas...... say Arlington Texas

IF ESPN says anything different then that person is GEOGRAPHICALLY INEPT

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/inept

Definition of inept
1 : lacking in fitness or aptitude : UNFIT as in inept at sports
2 : lacking sense or reason : FOOLISH
3 : not suitable to the time, place, or occasion : inappropriate often to an absurd degree an inept metaphor
4 : generally incompetent : BUNGLING  inept leadership

#118609 Train Whistle or Tone - SW Fort Worth

Posted by 360texas on 24 April 2019 - 09:38 AM

For the last several weeks I have been wakened to hear a short 2 second tone or horn sound starting around midnight every hour and sometimes on the half hour.

Seems like freight trains might be making those different pitch sounds probably when going across a road crossing.  The tone or horn is preferably to the older train whistle.

Anyone else hearing this night time tonal events ?  LOLLL I call them that must be the: 10pm train, 11pm train, 12 ->> 1, 2, 3, am train.  This is almost Monday -> through Saturday nights.

We are in the Wedgwood area.
